There are only a couple of hours left before the Google event, where we will be shown various new items, including the Pixel 5 smartphone. We already know literally everything about the device.
Recall that the Pixel 5 will receive the SoC Snapdragon 765G and will cost less than the Pixel 4 at launch. Overall, this will be the first non-flagship smartphone of Google’s senior line, if we judge from the platform. And so there are questions to the device, because it is not clear whether even Pixel fans will want to buy it.
Fresh data hints that Google itself does not expect any special Pixel 5 sales. The source claims that the company expects to sell less than 1 million units by the end of the year. More precisely, about 800,000 devices should be produced.
Of course, Google’s forecasts are also influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, since Pixel sales in the first half of this year amounted to only 1.5 million devices, which is almost three times less than a year earlier.
The search giant sold a record 7.2 million smartphones for the Pixel family last year, far more than a year earlier. This year, Google will definitely not be able to break its own record.
