Microsoft wouldn’t be itself if Windows 11’s first major update – Windows 11 2H22 – turned out to be hassle-free. Users (and especially gamers) faced a lot of difficulties after installing the update. Most frequent complaints on the drop in frame rate in games (this is especially true for Nvidia 3D accelerators), the slowdown of the OS itself, and the blue screen of death.

The largest American form of Reddit is full of resentment. “Personally, I just have crazy freezes in games. Removed the update – it became much better”, wrote one Reddit user.

Another commenter noticed significant FPS drops immediately after the update. According to him, it became impossible to play, while he has a fairly powerful hardware, and before the update of the operating system, there were no problems with games.

A third forum member notes that the same problems were observed in the Windows 22H2 beta version three months ago. The user thought that everything would be fixed in the final version of the update, but this did not happen. “Thank you for wasting another hour of my time“, wrote a disgruntled Reddit user, referring to Microsoft. By the way, he noted that after installing Windows 22H2, even scrolling the page in the browser turns out to be “twitchy”.

After installing Windows 22H2, there are also problems with sound. A variety of games slow down, including relatively undemanding ones like Call of Duty. Nvidia has joined the investigation and is asking users to submit more data. It is possible that soon the company will update the GeForce driver specifically taking into account the problems identified in Windows 22H2.

For now, everyone has the same recommendation. do not install the update, and if it is already installed roll back.

So far, upcoming projects have code names. For example, Orion is a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 that is being worked on internally by the CD Project RED team. The release date of the new part has not yet been disclosed. The developers also reminded about the plot add-on for the game called Phantom Liberty, which will be released in 2023.

The studio also announced a new trilogy in the universe of The Witcher. The first game of the new saga, codenamed Project Polaris, is being developed on the Unreal Engine 5. The project was announced back in March 2022.

In the universe of The Witcher, another project has been announced, codenamed Canis Majoris. It will be a major RPG from a third-party studio that has nothing to do with the new trilogy.

Project Sirius is another Witcher game that will be different from other parts, combining multiplayer gameplay, campaign with quests and story. Developed by the authors of The Flame in the Flood with the support of CD Project RED.

The Polish studio also announced Hadar, a brand new game that developers are building from scratch. At the moment, the unknown project is in its early stages, and the studio is working on the basis for a new setting.

It is clear that new games (especially the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077) will require new computing capabilities. So to play at maximum (or pre-maximum) settings, you will need a very powerful 3D card.

PlayStation games will be released on PC no earlier than

Sony will continue to release their games on PC. At the same time, large single-user projects will be ported no earlier than in a year.

PlayStation games will be released on PC no earlier than one year after the release on consoles. But this only applies to single player projects.

About this in an interview said the head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst (Hermen Hulst). Thus, if we are talking about new games that Sony will initially plan to release on PC, such gamers will have to wait at least a year. At the same time, firstly, much more time may pass, and secondly, some games may forever remain PlayStation exclusives. For example, it probably makes no sense to leave Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok exclusives for Sony, since the first parts of these series have already been released on PC. But there are no rumors about the corresponding versions of these projects yet.

As for the games-services that are actively developing at the moment, they will be released on consoles and PC at the same time.

PlayStation 5 has been hacked. You can install games, but you can’t run them yet

PlayStation 5 has been hacked You can install games but

Nearly two years after the PlayStation 5 went on sale, modders have found a way to jailbreak the console, albeit with some restrictions.

IGN notes that the modder, known as SpecterDev, disclosed an apparent jailbreak that is described as an experimental IPV6 kernel exploit exploiting a WebKit vulnerability.

The jailbreak will only work on PS5 systems with firmware 4.03 or later. If you’ve updated your PS5 since October last year, you won’t be able to try the exploit. But even if you need firmware, an attempt to install a jailbreak works only in a third of cases.

PlayStation 5 has been hacked. You can install games, but you can't run them yet

As for what you can do with a jailbroken PS5 right now, you’ll get access to the system’s debug menu. You can also install games from outside the PlayStation Store, but you cannot run third-party software.

Modder Lance McDonald tested the jailbreak and was able to install the PT demo, the famous teaser of the canceled Silent Hills game. However, he was unable to start playing the game. Although the exploit offers read/write access to the PS5, there is currently no way to execute the downloaded files. In any case, PT is not backwards compatible with PS5.

It is currently unlikely that this jailbreak will be widely used anytime soon due to its limitations and the fact that Sony can ban modder accounts. On top of that, there is a risk of locking the console at that time. However, it may give other hackers and modders a foundation to build more robust jailbreak tools.
