It is quite possible that a compact smartphone from the founder of Pebble will appear on the market in the foreseeable future.

Eric Migicovsky, who founded the acclaimed Pebble, is literally now gathering a new team to release a compact smartphone with Andorid. In fact, at the moment there is no company that will eventually be created for these purposes. Now the Small Android Phone team is only discussing options, but even now the participants are trying to decide on the characteristics.

The team now includes several former Pebble employees, including the founder, GoPro designer, MongoBD manager, and other enthusiasts. Interestingly, it all started, in fact, simply with the cry of Migikowski on the Web for someone to make a good compact smartphone. But, as we know, even the iPhone mini sold very mediocrely.

However, perhaps they were too small. The Small Android Phone team has not yet finalized the dimensions, but has repeatedly mentioned, firstly, that the screen should be less than 6.1 inches diagonally, and secondly, the participants often mentioned ZenFone 9 with a 5-screen diagonal as a reference point. 9 inches.

The team’s designer even already has a number of sketches, although it’s hard to say what the smartphone will be like in the end. But the team definitely focuses on good photo opportunities as well. In addition, apparently, the emphasis will be placed on the materials of the case, along with the tactile sensations of users.

In terms of performance, the smartphone will definitely be very powerful, but not necessarily one of the best. The team is currently looking at two platforms: the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and a mid-range Qualcomm chip that has yet to be released. Although, perhaps, this meant the new SoC Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2, which was just announced the other day, but has not yet hit the market. By the way, such a selection of platforms hints that the smartphone will not be released sometime in a few years, but relatively soon. Perhaps in a year and a half.

There is a guideline for the price: about $ 850.

Sony teases the announcement of Xperia 3, but Xperia 5 may be abandoned

The predecessor to the Xperia 5 V was released in Europe last September. But this phone was not available in the US. The company said it “will not sell the Xperia 5 V in the North American market this year. We want to focus on our flagship Xperia 1 V.”

Zacbucks has no history of confirmed leaks, so for now we can only confidently expect some kind of announcement from Xperia related to the number 3.

Apple is in talks with Google regarding integrating Gemini AI into the iPhone, and Apple has had similar discussions with OpenAI regarding GPT. Bloomberg says that so far the parties have not decided on any basic nuances of the potential cooperation, and this will be announced no earlier than in the summer at WWDC 2024.

The source does not say that Apple was unable to develop its own AI, but the company’s negotiations with Google and OpenAI may indicate that the Cupertino team does not have a worthy analogue to the developments of these giants.

Let us remember that Apple has so far said virtually nothing about artificial intelligence in the context of its future iPhones, and a number of sources have reported that the company is far behind the market, as it took up this area late.
