Over 62% of smartphones sold in Q4 have OLED display
Analytical agency Omdia published a report on what happened in the smartphone market in the 4th quarter of 2020. And the most interesting thing that can be learned from this report is that almost 63% of all smartphones sold in the last quarter are equipped with OLED screens. Almost 32% on LCD panels, and another 5.4% turned out to be some other strange smartphones that no one wants to mention. Yes, we have not forgotten that there are E-Ink screens, but let’s be honest – God forbid a couple of such smartphones will be on the market. And there, 5.4% of the world market is out of the question.
The main supplier of OLED panels for the whole world, of course, has become Samsung Display (anyone doubted it?). And the growth is so good that the first quarter of this year will be even better, as analysts predict 30% more OLED screens than in the same period last year.
In the meantime, the Chinese also understood where the money was and began to actively develop in the OLED direction and began large-scale construction, renovation, development, and so on. So other funny guys who can do well will soon drive up to Samsung Display. Although, the pricing policy of Samsung Display simply does not provide many opportunities for Chinese brands to develop. But everything has its time.
