Oppo Find X3 Display Will Support Real 10-Bit Color Depth

At OPPO INNO DAY 2020, many interesting solutions were shown, including the OPPO X 2021 concept smartphone with a retractable display. In addition, the company has showcased many features that will be used in next year’s flagship smartphones. For example, displays with true 10-bit color (no FRC) with full DCI-P3 gamut coverage.

The company promises high color accuracy through its Full-path color management system, which the smartphone maker says is the very first Android system with similar performance. In addition, a JNCD factor of 0.4 will be used for calibration to ensure accurate color reproduction.

Situations often arise when, during shooting, viewing on a smartphone and other devices, a photo or video looks different. To avoid this, the developers have promised 10-bit color depth for “capture, store and display.” For these purposes, support for Digital Overlap HDR or DOL-HDR will be implemented, and the photo file itself will be saved in HEIF format.

Not all users can see the benefits of 10-bit displays, so the company is developing a technology called Color Correction Solution 2.0 to create color profiles for the user’s unique vision. We will find out soon how it will look in practice.
