OmniVision Technologies has announced the release of the OH08A and OH08B CMOS sensors. According to her, these are the first sensors with a resolution of 8 megapixels, designed for disposable and reusable endoscopes. In addition, the new OH08B imaging sensor is the first medical grade imaging sensor to use Nyxel’s award-winning Nyxel technology for high sensitivity in the near infrared (NIR) range.
“Our next generation OH08A / B 8MP image sensors are designed for endoscopes with an outer diameter of 10-12 mm, such as gastroscopes, duodenoscopes, amnioscopes, laparoscopes and colonoscopes. They deliver higher image quality up to 4K2K resolution at 60 frames per second, greatly improving the clinician’s ability to visualize human anatomy during these critical procedures, ”said Richard Yang, senior marketing manager for OmniVision. “With the OH08B, we’ve taken our sensor to the next level by adding Nyxel technology, which provides better color and IR sensitivity, allowing clinicians to see clearer video during NIR, fluorescence, chromoendoscopy, and virtual endoscopy procedures. In addition, the higher sensitivity reduces the light requirement, allowing for less heat at the endoscope tip. “
The medical grade OH08A image sensor features a 1 / 2.5 ”optical format. It uses PureCel Plus-S pixel technology. The pixel pitch is 1.4 μm. The dimensions of the sensor are 7.1 x 4.6 mm. The OH08A features HDR support. The OH08B optical format is 1 / 1.8-inch, PureCel pixel pitch is 2.0 μm, and the body size is 8.9 x 6.3 mm.
Sample sensor samples are already available.
