Today Xiaomi will officially unveil its new flagship smartphones Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra, but detailed characteristics of these models and, more importantly, prices have already appeared on the Web. We now know how much Xiaomi will ask for its best camera phones. Looking ahead, we note that the prices are quite humane. But first about the characteristics.
Both models are built on SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, equipped with LPDDR5 and UFS3.1 memory. Screens – with 6.81-inch Samsung OLED E4 curved on all four sides with a frame rate of 120 Hz and a polling rate of the sensor layer of 480 Hz. The screen resolution of the Mi 11 Pro is 2K, the screen of the Mi 11 Ultra is WQHD + (3200 x 1440 pixels). In both cases, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus is used, MEMC and HDR10 + technology is also supported. The fingerprint scanner is sub-screen, and the front camera with a resolution of 20 megapixels is embedded.
Both smartphones received Wi-Fi 6E adapters, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC, Harman Kardon stereo speakers, an IR emitter, IP68 dust and water protection, 5000 mAh batteries with support for fast charging (both wired and wireless) with a power of 67 W.
The main cameras of both models use laser autofocus, a flash with warm and cold light diodes and a proprietary image processor. But the set of sensors is different. The main one and there, and there – Samsung ISOCELL GN2 optical format 1 / 1.12 inches with a resolution of 50 megapixels, supplemented by a fast lens and optical stabilization. The other two sensors in the Mi 11 Pro are the OmniVision OV13B10 and OV08A10 with a resolution of 13 and 8 megapixels. The former is used in conjunction with an ultra wide-angle lens, the latter with a telephoto lens that provides 5x optical zoom and 50x hybrid.
Additional sensors in the Mi 11 Ultra are Sony IMX586 with a resolution of 48 megapixels. They are used in both the ultra wide-angle lens module and the periscope lens module providing 5x optical and 120x hybrid zoom. While the Mi 11 Pro camera has optical stabilization only for the main sensor, the Mi 11 Ultra OIS camera has all three image sensors. Moreover, only the Mi 11 Ultra camera has an additional display. It displays notifications, can display a picture from the home screen, acts as a viewfinder and an Always On (AOD) screen.
Dimensions and weight of Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro – 164.3 x 74.6 x 8.5 mm and 210 grams, Mi 11 Ultra – 164.3 x 74.6 x 8.8 mm and 225 grams.
And now the most important thing is the prices. The Mi 11 Pro comes in two configurations, with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash storage. The cost of the first is $ 765, the second is $ 825. For a camera with an advanced image sensor (and taking into account other characteristics) – inexpensive. For comparison, the cost of the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G with 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory at the start of sales in China is $ 1,000.
The Mi 11 Ultra is, of course, more expensive. The base configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash is priced at $ 855. The cost of the version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash memory is $ 915. Finally, for the top version with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of flash memory, they ask for $ 1070.
According to the latest data, Mi 11 Pro will only be sold in China, and only Mi 11 Ultra will enter the global market. Considering that devices sold in Europe are usually more expensive than in China, we can assume that the price of the Mi 11 Pro in the Old World starts at around 900-950 euros.
6300 mAh, NFC, Android 12, iPhone 13-like camera and maximum dust and water resistance for only $110. Oukitel WP20 Pro announced, sales start on August 22
The shelf of secure smartphones has arrived. Oukitel WP20 Pro is touted as a very inexpensive and rather thin model for smartphones with maximum protection against dust and water: it is protected in accordance with the degrees of IP68, IP69K, and also meets the requirements of the American military standard MIL-STD-810H.
The hardware platform here is simple – MediaTek Helio A22, but Android 12 acts as the OS. The amount of RAM was 4 GB, flash memory – 64 GB. The screen is characterized by a diagonal of 5.93 inches and a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The main camera copies the iPhone 13 module, but only visually – the sensors, of course, are different and much simpler (the resolution of the main one is 20 megapixels). The front camera uses a 5-megapixel sensor. Weight is 297 grams, dimensions – 166.2 x 81.2 x 15 mm.
The Oukitel WP20 Pro is available for just $110 during the global premier sale on AliExpress from August 22 to 26.
The best camera phone on the way? Huawei Mate 50 launched in mass production, it will be presented on September 7 along with smart watches Huawei Watch GT4
Huawei has started mass production of the new Mate 50 flagship smartphones, according to a Chinese resource that cites supply chain sources. Huawei has traditionally been very strong in terms of camera capabilities, and it is possible that some Mate 50 Pro will top the DxOMark rankings in the future. .
In general, four models are expected in the series: Mate 50e, Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS. They will receive curved screens from local (Chinese) manufacturers and the recently introduced HarmonyOS 3.0. The younger model is credited with SoC Snapdragon 778G, all the rest – Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 without 5G support. However, some sources also talk about the use of Snapdragon 888 (also in the version with an LTE modem), so not everything is clear here yet.
The premiere of Huawei Mate 50 in China is expected on September 7, on the same day the company may introduce the Watch GT4 smart watch. There are no special details about this device: it is only reported that the watch will receive a larger screen than the current model, improved optical sensors and, of course, HarmonyOS 3.0.
Will there be more 200 megapixel cameras in smartphones? OmniVision OVB0A sensor introduced
There may be more smartphones with 200-megapixel sensors in the near future, and we are probably talking not only about expensive devices. OmniVision has introduced its second sensor of this class.
The OVB0A sensor has an optical format of 1/1.395″ or 1/1.4″ for simplicity. That is, it is quite large, but smaller than the same Samsung ISOCELL HP1, while it is exactly the same as ISOCELL HP3. The pixel size is 0.56 µm.
The sensor supports 16-cell binning, so that photos are obtained with a resolution of 12.5 megapixels. Video can be shot in 4K at 120 fps, 8K at 30 fps is also supported. The sensor should appear in smartphones in the fourth quarter.
OVB0A is OmniVision’s second 200MP sensor. The first was OVB0B in a larger optical format. It was introduced back in January, but in the end it did not appear in any smartphone. So, if OVB0A does not repeat the fate of the firstborn, then it will just become the first available on the market.
