There have been many rumors on the web that AMD will release Ryzen 7000 desktop processors and Raden RX 7000 graphics cards this year, and now the head of the company, Lisa Su, has officially confirmed what was previously said unofficially.

Official: AMD Ryzen 7000 processors and Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards will be released this year

Commenting on the financial results of the fourth quarter and last year as a whole, Lisa Su touched upon the issue of promising products.

About 2022. Demand for our products is strong and we look forward to another year of strong growth and share as we expand our current product lines and launch new Zen 4 processors and RDNA 3 GPUs. We have also invested heavily in providing the power needed to support our growth in 2022 and beyond.

New products of both lines are expected at the end of this year. Ryzen 7000 will be a significant step forward, because they will not only switch to the new AM5 processor socket (LGA 1718, just like Intel processors), but will also receive support for DDR5 memory and PCIe 5 bus. APUs will also be significantly updated, they will receive new GPUs. True, there are some issues with the availability of AMD desktop APUs, let’s hope that the situation will be better in the next generation.

As for video cards, the Radeon RX 7000 will be significantly more powerful than current models. According to rumors, the top-end Navi 31 GPU with 15,360 stream processors will be represented by MCM (Multi Chip Module) with two crystals. Perhaps even Navi 32 will consist of two crystals. But the simpler Navi 33 will be monolithic.

All AMD Ryzen 7000 processors will overclock above 50 GHz

An engineering sample of the new flagship AMD Ryzen 9 7950X processor lit up in a screenshot posted on the well-known Chinese forum Chiphell. The Windows task manager shows a frequency of 5.37 GHz, however, according to the insider Greymon55 (as well as data published on the Web earlier), the 16-core flagship of the Ryzen 7000 family will be able to overclock to 5.45 GHz with one or two active cores.

All AMD Ryzen 7000 processors will overclock above 5.0 GHz

According to the same Greymon55, all Ryzen 7000 series processors will operate at a frequency of over 5.0 GHz when loading 1-2 cores. So, the maximum frequency of the Ryzen 7900X will be 5.3 GHz, the frequency of the Ryzen 7 7800X will be 5.2 GHz, the frequency of the Ryzen 5 7600X will be 5.1 GHz. Well, when loading all the cores, all these CPUs will be able to keep the frequency of 5.0 GHz.

AMD video cards have become dramatically faster by up to

AMD recently promised that its new graphics driver will bring gaming performance up to 24%. This driver is already available and we have test results.

AMD video cards have become dramatically faster by up to 17%, and possibly more. The test of the new driver showed that there really is an increase

Unfortunately, the source did not test the games Crysis Remastered and Total War Saga: Troy, where AMD promised 24% and 17% growth, respectively. But even without them, the situation is generally clear.

AMD video cards have become dramatically faster by up to 17%, and possibly more. The test of the new driver showed that there really is an increase

As you can see, on average for 50 games, the increase was 2-3% depending on the resolution, which is completely imperceptible during the game. But still it is more correct to look at the results in specific games.

And there really is something to appreciate. If we talk about Full HD, then in Watch Dogs: Legion the increase was 12%, and this is the maximum figure. At the same time, in 2K resolution in the same game, the increase was already 17%.

Also, a noticeable increase was observed in Death Stranding, Apex Legends, The Witcher 3, Forza 5 and a number of other projects. If we compare the results with AMD’s promises, then in the same Apex Legends the company promised a 5% increase, but in fact we have from 6% to 9% depending on the resolution, that is, the result is even better. So, perhaps, in the same Crysis Remastered, the growth will be even more than the promised 24%.

Separately, it is worth highlighting Godfall, where the new driver, on the contrary, leads to a decrease in performance by 2-7%.

No AMD will not be the first to offer a

It looks like all the rumors about AMD’s dual-chip chipsets were wrong after all.

Recall that in recent days there have been reports that the X670 will be a chipset consisting of two chipsets on one substrate. But, apparently, a broken phone or a bad translation of some source data from some Asian language worked.

No, AMD will not be the first to offer a dual-chip chipset to the market. Asus X670 Prime motherboard schematic showing two separate chips

In any case, as you can see on the diagram of the Asus X670 Prime mainboard, the chipset will indeed have two chips, but they will be completely separate. This is similar to the northbridge/southbridge circuit that was used extensively in the past, but in this case, according to the available data, the chips are exactly the same. The chipset chip is codenamed Promontory and is an ASMedia development.

Judging by the diagram, one of the microcircuits will be located directly under the video card slot, and for now we can only guess if this will lead to excessive heating.

Recall that AMD will present new chipsets at Computex 2022 the other day.
