Nvidia’s latest supercomputer unveiled: 256 GH200 superchips, 144TB of memory and 1 Eflops performance
Nvidia today announced a new class of high-memory AI-based supercomputers, the Nvidia DGX supercomputer powered by Nvidia GH200 Grace Hopper superchips and Nvidia NVLink switching system, designed to develop new generative AI applications, recommender systems, and big data processing.
The Nvidia DGX GH200 uses NVLink Switch System technology to combine 256 GH200 superchips, allowing them to operate as a single GPU. This delivers 1 EFLOPs of performance and 144TB of total memory—nearly 500 times more memory than the previous generation Nvidia DGX A100 introduced in 2020.
“Generative AI, large language models, and recommender systems are the digital engines of today’s economy,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia. “The DGX GH200 AI Supercomputer combines Nvidia’s most advanced accelerated computing and networking technologies to push the boundaries of AI.”
The GH200 superchips eliminate the need for traditional PCIe CPU-GPU connectivity by combining an Arm-based Nvidia Grace CPU with an Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPU in a single package using Nvidia’s NVLink-C2C chip. This increases the throughput between GPU and CPU by 7x compared to the latest PCIe technology, reduces interconnect power consumption by more than 5x, and provides a 600GB Hopper architecture GPU building block for DGX GH200 supercomputers.
The DGX GH200 is the first supercomputer to combine Grace Hopper superchips with Nvidia’s NVLink switching system, which allows all the GPUs in the DGX GH200 system to work together as one. The previous generation system had only eight GPUs, which could be combined with NVLink into a single GPU without sacrificing performance.
The DGX GH200 architecture delivers 48 times the bandwidth of NVLink than the previous generation, delivering the power of a massive AI supercomputer with the ease of programming a single GPU.
Nvidia is building its own AI supercomputer based on the DGX GH200 to power its research and development teams. The supercomputer, called Nvidia Helios, will feature four DGX GH200 systems. Each will be connected to an Nvidia Quantum-2 InfiniBand network to increase data throughput for training large AI models. Helios will include 1,024 Grace Hopper superchips and is expected to be launched by the end of the year.

Current update of the OpenAI chatbot: ChatGPT can now “Google” in real time

The American company OpenAI has announced the release of a useful update to its generative artificial intelligence system, ChatGPT. According to the official blog, ChatGPT can search the web for the latest information, suggesting answers from “relevant and authoritative” sources.
The search is performed in the Microsoft Bing search engine. After receiving a response from the network, the user can click on the link and check the information provided. The feature, called Browse with Bing, is currently only open to those with Plus and Enterprise subscriptions, but the company says it will soon make it available to “all users.”
As the developers note, OpenAI has lifted the temporary restriction on data – previously, ChatGPT users had access to the amount of information until September 2021. Now the ChatGPT search engine can freely search for the latest information.
As a reminder, OpenAI added the ability to browse the internet to its iOS app ChatGPT at the end of June 2023, but quickly removed it. The reason turned out to be that users quickly found a loophole – the chatbot could be “persuaded” to provide paid content by entering the full URL.

GeForce RTX 4090 is ready for Counter-Strike 2. The video card produces 543 FPS in the game

Almost immediately after the release of Counter-Strike 2, Nvidia explained what to expect in the game when using 3D cards from the GeForce RTX 40 line.
With Full HD resolution and maximum graphics settings, the flagship of the line – GeForce RTX 4090 – produces 543 FPS. Nvidia assured that the GeForce RTX 4090 in Counter-Strike 2 is 4.5 times faster than the GeForce GTX 1080 and 2.9 times faster than the GeForce RTX 2080.
At the other end is the GeForce RTX 4060, but even it provides more than 200 FPS under the same conditions. The performance gap between the GeForce RTX 4060 and GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is quite small, unlike other models in the line.

The four years of waiting were worth it. Raspberry Pi 5 introduced, it received a south bridge for the first time

Four years have passed since the release of Raspberry Pi 4, and now Raspberry Pi 5 has been released. The new generation of single-board computer has improved in almost everything, but the price has become slightly higher: the cost of the version with 4 GB of RAM is 60 dollars, the version with 8 GB of RAM is 80 dollars.
The Raspberry Pi 5 hardware platform is based on the Broadcom BCM2712 SoC with four Arm Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz. The creators talk about an increase in computing power by 2-3 times, compared to the Raspberry Pi 4. The GPU of the new computer is VideoCore VII with a frequency of 800 MHz and support for OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2. The creators note a “significant increase in GPU performance” compared to its predecessor.
For the first time, the RP1 south bridge, which is responsible for connecting peripherals, appeared in the Raspberry Pi Foundation device. According to the developers, it “provides a qualitative improvement in the performance and functionality of peripheral devices.”
Raspberry Pi 5 received two MIPI transceivers with a bandwidth of 1.5 Gbps, which allows you to connect two cameras or two displays. There is also one PCI Express 2.0 line, however, to realize its speed potential you cannot do without connecting an M.2 HAT adapter.
The Raspberry Pi 5 receives power via the USB-C port. There are integrated Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac adapters, an SD card slot, two HDMI ports (4K 60 fps displays are supported), two USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, RJ-45.
