Nvidia has unveiled the GeForce RTX 2060 12GB. Like GeForce RTX 2060 Super, but with a cut bus

Nvidia did not even publish a press release about the release of the new version of the GeForce RTX 2060, which has been talked about so much earlier. The novelty is simply registered on the official website of the company next to the usual GeForce RTX 2060.

Official data confirmed the rumors – the GeForce RTX 2060 12GB really has more CUDA cores than the GeForce RTX 2060 6GB: 2176 versus 1920. The GPU frequencies are the same as the GeForce RTX 2060 Super: 1470 MHz – base, 1650 MHz – in Boost mode. In fact, the only difference between the new product and the GeForce RTX 2060 Super is the memory bus cut down to 192 bits. Therefore, the memory bandwidth is 336 GB / s – 112 GB / s less than the GeForce RTX 2060 Super with a 256-bit bus. By the way, the frequency of GDDR6 memory chips in these models is equal to 14 GHz. Due to the fact that the memory in the new product has physically increased, the TDP of the video card also increased – it is 10 W more than the GeForce RTX 2060 Super, and 25 W more than the regular GeForce RTX 2060.

The GeForce RTX 2060 12GB is built on the Turing 12nm TU106 GPU and supports both real-time ray tracing and DLSS. However, some technologies of Ampere graphics cards are not available to it. For example, Resizable BAR.

The GeForce RTX 2060 12GB will go on sale on Tuesday, December 7th. No pricing has been announced yet, but according to an Nvidia spokesman, the new product is “a premium version of the RTX 2060 6GB and we expect that to be reflected in the price.” The official price of the GeForce RTX 2060 6GB is $ 300, the retail price is about $ 800. Consequently, the GeForce RTX 2060 12GB can retail for about $ 850. However, reference versions of the Founders Edition are promised, and they will definitely be cheaper.

Nvidia is going to cool the 600 watt GeForce RTX 4090

Nvidia video cards of the new generation are credited with incredible gluttony up to 600 watts of power consumption. True, the latest data allows us to hope that at least the GeForce RTX 4090 will require only 450 watts. But the GeForce RTX 4090 Ti, if it comes out, will obviously consume more.

One would think that a card with such appetites could only have a liquid or, in extreme cases, a hybrid approval, but perhaps an air one would suffice. This is indicated by photos of the GeForce RTX 4090 Ti Founders Edition cooler, which appeared on the Web today.

Without a direct comparison, it is not so easy to estimate the dimensions, but you can still see that the radiator is huge. It’s very big on current top Nvidia cards, but here it’s even bigger.

At the same time, one can only guess whether even such a monstrous CO is enough to cool a card with a consumption of 600 W.

It also cannot be ruled out that this is just one of the prototypes of the cooler, and as a result the card will receive a different CO. Also, it could be a fake. But it is worth remembering that the photos of the GeForce RTX 3080 cooler at one time also appeared long before the announcement of the video cards themselves.

Recall that the Core i9-12950HX debuted last week. Its configuration includes 8 high-performance cores up to 5 GHz and 8 energy-efficient cores up to 3.6 GHz, as well as 30 MB of L3 cache. There are two options for discrete graphics accelerators: the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory in the base version and the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 16 GB of its own memory in the top version. In both cases, the battery capacity was 90 Wh.

Budget video cards will become useless Ryzen 7000 Mobile Processors

Phoenix generation Ryzen 7000 mobile processors are credited with incredibly powerful iGPUs. But these APUs may turn out to be even more interesting than previously thought.

Budget video cards will become useless. Ryzen 7000 Mobile Processors May Get Ultra-Performing iGPU, 3D V-Cache Boosted

Recall that these will be processors based on the Zen 4 architecture. The iGPU of the top models will supposedly have 1536 stream processors, which is twice as much as the Ryzen 7 6800U. This alone is enough to take iGPU performance to a whole new level. But lately, rumors have attributed to the new products a graphics core based on the RDNA 3 architecture. In this case, the performance gain will obviously be much more than twofold.

Now, an insider who has accurately described data about AMD video cards and processors many times has said that mobile Ryzen 7000 can also get a 3D V-Cache chip. This is allegedly indicated by information directly from the factory.

However, it is not clear whether this cache will work with the CPU or with the GPU. In the second case, it will be almost the same as Infinity Cache for Radeon RX 6000 video cards. And this will significantly increase the performance of the graphics core. True, it seems that such APUs will only be in the Ryzen 7000HX line.

But, if all these rumors and leaks are true, the same source’s recent claim that the Ryzen 7000’s iGPU could be comparable to the mobile 60W GeForce RTX 3060 doesn’t sound so fantastic anymore.
