Problems with production volumes of suitable Nvidia GPUs of the Ampere family are indirectly confirmed by the constant transfer of new top-end video cards, in particular, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. The RTX 3080 with 20GB of storage was originally expected to debut in December last year, but it never happened. Then, in January, the RTX 3080 Ti with 16 GB of memory was supposed to come out, but we did not see it either in January or in February. More recently, a new landmark flashed in the news reports – mid-April, but according to new data, in April, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti can not be expected. But if not in April, then when?
The new date is mid-May. And one might think that it is far from final. Interestingly, as the release of the expected novelty was postponed, its memory capacity decreased noticeably: at first it was 20 GB, then 16, and now, according to the latest data, the RTX 3080 Ti will have only 12 GB of GDDR6 memory. True, the performance is promised at the level of “slightly less than the GeForce RTX 3090”. Also in May, the release of the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti video card is expected, but it will have the same amount of memory as the regular RTX 3070 – 8 GB.

It is difficult to explain such an increase by inflation and the laws of the market alone. Most likely, the rise in price is due to the transition to DDR5 and the introduction of support for the PCIe 5 bus.

The processors in the top version are Intel Core i9-13900H or AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS, the graphics accelerator is GeForce RTX 4070. The maximum amount of DDR5-5600 MHz RAM is 32 GB. The package includes a 230W power supply, both USB-C ports of the laptop support 140W charging.
Lenovo Legion Y9000X 2023 (based on Intel CPU) will go on sale in April starting at $1,770. Legion R9000X 2023 (on AMD CPU) will be available in May, starting price is the same.
