Nvidia blacklists famous tech bloggers

Published

on

Technobloggers with a good reputation and a large public always receive devices for testing and reviews. The more trust in the channel and its presenter, the more expensive the device the company sends. Thus, one of the popular HardwareUnboxed channels did not receive a single copy after the release of Ampere accelerators. And that’s why.

NVIDIA has blacklisted the popular YouTube channel HardwareUnboxed, and now they will not receive Founders Edition graphics cards for review. The reason for this ban is simple: according to PR-managers of the company, this channel is focused on demonstrating the power of video cards in a simple mode, without beams. They call this the rasterization power. And bloggers of this channel mention work with the included tracing in passing. This was announced by the presenters of the channel on Twitter.

Perhaps, these actions cannot be called except as a PR move. After all, not many games have rays yet, and those that support and completely frighten players with super-low performance. Control, Battlefield V, Metro Exodus and the recently released blockbuster from CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 are all well-known projects with full RTX implementation so far.

GamersNexus, the host of the GamersNexus channel, believes that in this way the company is putting a spoke in the wheel, because users are unlikely to believe reviewers who will praise RTX technologies simply because of the demands of company managers.

Nevertheless, representatives of the channels promise that such a trick will not affect either the quality and honesty of the review, or their quantity.
