Now you can’t hide from advertising in virtual reality. Facebook is testing ads in games for Oculus

Published

on

Virtual reality advertising is no longer fiction. Facebook introduced ads in Oculus headsets a month ago, and now the company has reportedly started advertising in games.

The first ad game was Blaston. In addition, ads will appear in two more unnamed projects. Of course, the process will affect many more VR software products later.

For advertising offers, Facebook will use user data from its own social network. The actions of users regarding ads already shown will be taken into account. At the same time, a number of user data, including weight, height, data from headset cameras, etc., that can be obtained through Oculus devices, will not be used for advertising.

Facebook notes that it is considering a variety of VR ad formats. The company is ready to experiment, but the introduction of advertising into virtual software will take place gradually.

Even Xbox One will be able to give out 60 ks? AMD FSR 2.0 Technology Coming to Microsoft Consoles

This was reported by representatives of the GPUOpen team, as well as a Microsoft employee, that is, these are not rumors. However, there are no exact dates yet.

But it is known that FSR 2.0 will appear not only on the Xbox Series, but also on the Xbox One, which may allow the latter to actually get a second life, since the console will be able to better cope with modern games.

At the same time, in the case of consoles, you need to understand that they almost always support various upscaling technologies anyway. Consoles have a very long lifespan, and their hardware must be able to handle new games years after the device’s release. As such, it’s hard to say just how much FSR 2.0 will help consoles handle modern games or higher resolutions better.

It is also worth remembering that FSR 2.0 has been integrated into Unreal Engine 4 and 5 as a plug-in, which makes it easier to integrate the technology into relevant games.
