The price of one bitcoin (BTC) in Nigeria soared to the equivalent of $38,000 in the local currency, naira. This is significantly higher than the price of bitcoin on the world market, which is about $23,000.

At the time of writing, on the Nigerian crypto exchange NairaEX for 1 bitcoin they give 17.4 million naira, which corresponds to 37.8 thousand dollars. The peak value was 38.8 thousand dollars.

This is due to the fact that the Central Bank of Nigeria continues to impose restrictions on cash withdrawals from ATMs in order to reduce the share of cash in money circulation.

In January, new rules were introduced that allowed Nigerians to withdraw no more than 20,000 naira (about $43.50) from ATMs per day, with a weekly limit of 100,000 naira (about $217).

The move was also taken just days before the new naira notes entered circulation in an effort to curb inflation and money laundering. The central bank has set a January 24 deadline for Nigerians to exchange their old higher denomination banknotes for the new currency.

However, long queues and complaints forced the Central Bank to extend Nigeria’s deadline until Feb. 10.

OnePlus has officially confirmed that it will launch its first tablet on February 7, called the OnePlus Pad.

In a post on the official blog, OnePlus has shared the first details about the upcoming device. OnePlus Pad will receive an aluminum alloy and a camera located in the central upper part on the back of the device.

OnePlus also said that the OnePlus Pad will feature a curved body that is rounded on the sides, allowing users to “comfortably hold the tablet for extended periods of time without fatigue.”

OnePlus hasn’t shared any further details on the tablet’s specs, but it is rumored to have an 11.6-inch display.
