Nokia and Telecom Italy deal dealt another blow to Huawei

After the ban on the use of Huawei technologies to build 5G in the US, the US government is lobbying European countries to also refuse to cooperate with the Chinese company. For example, the largest mobile network provider in Italy chose Nokia as one of the suppliers of equipment for 5G, reducing the contractual share of Huawei.
According to the post Reuters, in early 2020, Telecom Italy (TIM) considered splitting the RAN (Radio Access Network) supply contract between Huawei and Ericsson. However, the deal has since been renegotiated. Ericsson will still be the main suppliers of 5G equipment, while Nokia and Huawei will each supply 20-25% of all RAN equipment.
As a direct consequence of the tough US policy towards Huawei, European carriers have become more cautious in their choice of suppliers. As a result, Huawei is rapidly losing orders for 5G equipment across virtually all of Europe.
Currently, the companies are expected to formally announce the new arrangement.
