Nissan and Renault are the electric car brands that have the most breakdowns

Published

on

Although the two are manufacturers of great importance in the market, both Nissan and Renault electric car users have seen their models suffer more breakdowns over time. That is what emerges from the information of a study that shows which cars have been the ones that more times they have visited the workshop last year 2021. And in those, the breakdowns with Nissan and Renault are noticeable.

Electric cars can break down

We have always stressed that electric cars are less complex than combustion ones. This is done because they are vehicles that have elements that are less susceptible to wear, which makes them much simpler in terms of maintenance, which translates into savings of up to 30%.

However, these are still mechanical at their best, where electric cars are still suffering from own faults of its nature… something that the brands and users of Nissan and Renault have verified. It’s more; while the combustion engine typically has about 30,000 parts, an electric engine reduces these components by 60%.

Keep in mind that the prices of this type of vehicle are still high, so drivers look for those figures that the cars can be more than reliable. But that is not what happens with these brands, according to the report prepared by AutoData. This report takes into account both visits by maintenance such as breakdown, although it is this second aspect that makes the difference between them.

The Nissan, the ones that step on the workshop the most

In this sense, the problems that most can be affected in these vehicles they occur in relation to their batteries and those that affect the brake system, with certain cases in what includes the electrified propeller. Likewise, although reliability is an important factor, the vehicles that break down the least are not always the ones that provide the greatest satisfaction.

Electric car breakdowns Autodata

We see it with brands like Fiat, which are the ones with the greatest difference between the score obtained in reliability and that given by satisfaction. Getting into the report, it is pointed out how the Leaf first generation the one that goes to the workshop the most times and the one that presents the most problems, what to do is to see that, even if it is a car suitable for most users, it is not the one that can provide us with the most facilities.

However, its alliance partner, Renault, is also observed, who also has a place that is less proud in this ranking that AutoData has prepared. With it it is indicated that, despite being an interesting manufacturer (his Zoe is one of the best-selling vehicles), it has faults in its electrical systems with more frenquency than expected.

The behavior that we give to the car also influences

Because, as we say, these electric cars are not exempt from breakdowns. It is true that, the older it is, the more prone it can be to suffer some other complication (the one that heads the list is). But it is also proper to indicate that no brand is safe since BMW or Tesla also suffer.

The key question is how many times have they had to take their car to the workshop in the last twelve months. It is true that these problems do not occur in all cases, since generally the use we give the car influences its behavior more or less.

The analysis also states that the harsh winter of last year had a severe effect, since several drivers went to the workshop to check problems events in the batteries. Finally, according to Chris Wright, general director of the report, “the increasing complexity of vehicles in the aftermarket will be one of the biggest challenges that independent technicians will face. Until now, technicians did not need to also be electricians or computer repair specialists; however, this is changing as more and more vehicle functions become computerized.”

The car didnt even have back seats Oddities of the

Yesterday we talked about the Toyota Tacoma 2024, which entered the US market, and today details appeared about its simplest version – the SR. It turned out that with a one and a half cabin there are no more seats in the back. At all.

The current Tacoma with the exact same body has seats. Even though they are folding, they are there. The Takoma 2024 doesn’t even have reclining seats: all the space behind the seats can only be used for transporting things. But this solution looks rather strange for a one and a half cabin.

At the same time, the Tacoma SR 2024 received an improved media system with an 8-inch screen and support for wireless (!) Apple CarPlay and Android Auto protocols, and the database already has a set of security systems Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (for comparison, for its analogue in Chevrolet Colorado has to pay almost 2.5 thousand dollars extra).

The most important innovation is under the hood: replacing the 2.7-liter naturally aspirated engine with 159 hp. came a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with 228 hp. The dynamics have become better, but you will have to operate the manual transmission: in the basic version it is a manual transmission.

Prices in the USA range from 33 to 38.5 thousand dollars. The top-of-the-line 2024 Tacoma SR will have a full cab with a back seat, all-wheel drive, and even a 270-horsepower engine. (still the same 2.4-liter), but the gearbox is still manual.

The German automaker has been criticized for the design of its cars in recent years, and according to spy photos of the 2025 BMW X3 that surfaced this fall, the manufacturer has changed some elements.

The following images were created by Sugar Design based on photos of the prototype. There are fewer lines visible on the body of the new model, and the handles are located flush with the body.

The front grille may be perceived differently by fans. The nostrils will become larger, and they will abandon the traditional vertical slats in favor of glossy black plastic. The fenders and headlights have changed, which are similar in shape to the headlights of the X1 and the new 5 Series.

A test prototype has revealed that the new X3 will feature LED taillights that are radically different from the current model’s taillights, and Sugar Design has shown what they could look like.

Powered by petrol and diesel engines (for markets outside North America), as well as hybrid powertrains, the model is rumored to continue using an updated version of the current CLAR architecture. The all-electric iX3 is expected to ride on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform.

Toyota abandoned the corporate logo replacing it with a blue

Since 2009, Toyota has used a blue halo on its T badge on vehicles equipped with hybrid powertrains. The new Camry doesn’t have that badge, despite being a pure hybrid.

Instead of a blue accent on the badge, the Toyota Camry gets a blue dot on the trunk next to the letters HEV. Toyota confirmed that the new circle is intended to symbolize “the happiness of people living on earth and the desire to pass it on to the next generation.”

The new blue circle will replace the previous prominent badge on new Toyota hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery electric vehicles and fuel cell electric vehicles, a company representative who spoke with Motor Trend confirmed. Those changes start with models like the Camry, Crown and the automaker’s best-known hybrid, the Prius.

Other electrified cars like the RAV4, Venza and Corolla have retained the blue badges, but only because they haven’t been updated yet. Soon a blue dot will also appear on them.

It’s all part of the automaker’s “Beyond Zero” marketing campaign, which involves using electrified vehicles to “go beyond carbon neutrality with our products” and “have a positive impact on our planet and society.”
