AMD has shared new details about the RDNA 3 architecture that will underpin the Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards.

As reported, the new architecture will allow to raise the frequency of the GPU even higher. Current Navi GPUs already operate at frequencies well above 2 GHz, with some reaching frequencies in excess of 2.8 GHz. Probably, some new generation GPUs will be able to conquer the 3 GHz border out of the box, which is impressive. But it is not yet known exactly how much higher the frequencies of the new GPUs will be.

AMD also said that the new architecture will offer advanced ray tracing capabilities. What they will consist of is not specified, but we can expect increased performance in general and better optimization so that drawdowns when the corresponding effects are activated in games are smaller.

The company also confirmed support for the AV1 codec, DisplayPort 2.0 interface, 5nm process technology, advanced GPU packaging, graphics pipeline optimization, next-generation Infinity Cache, and more than 50% better power efficiency than RDNA 2.

At the same time, data on the configuration of new GPUs remain controversial. AMD itself hasn’t said anything about it, and the rumors are constantly changing.

After the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 at the end of 2020, it turned out that the game has a lot of bugs and flaws that have been fixed over time. Now there is information that the project was simply poorly tested before release.

It is alleged that CD Projekt RED hired the Romanian company Quantic Lab, which previously tested The Witcher 3, to test the game. However, experienced testers had left Quantic Lab by this time, although the company claimed otherwise. This is stated in a video on the YouTube channel Upper Echelon Gamers, which received a 72-page document with test reports, data from the personnel department and so on. This data was allegedly given to the author of the channel by an anonymous employee of Quantic Lab. Although no screenshots or documents are shown in the video.

The video claims the following:

• Quantic Lab lied about the size of the test team in order to keep the contract.
• Many team members were newbies who needed to be trained in parallel with testing.
• The Romanian company required a daily quota of bugs to be met, so any bugs were sent to the developers, not the most important ones. Because of this, really significant errors were often not detected in time.

It is also noted that as a result, CD Projekt RED changed the requirements for testing, now it was necessary to report only important errors, but time was lost.

At the same time, YouTube blogger LegacyKillaHD, who previously reviewed Cyberpunk 2077, asked about the situation of several developers from CD Projekt RED on condition of anonymity. According to them, they knew about the problems in the game, but there was not enough time to fix them.

Official comments from both companies have not yet been received.

NASA said that it had to postpone the launch of the spacecraft to the “precious” asteroid Psyche (Psyche).

As stated in the press release, the postponement is due to the late delivery of the software and test equipment necessary for the device. As a result, now NASA no longer has enough time to complete the tests.

The Psyche spacecraft was originally scheduled to launch on August 1st. The launch was then pushed back to at least September 20. The mission has now been postponed indefinitely.

The problem is that the spacecraft will be launched in such a way that on the way to the asteroid it performs a gravitational maneuver near Mars. Due to the relative position of Earth, Mars and Psyche, scientists had a window from August 1 to October 11 for an optimal launch this year. However, even before October 11, NASA does not have time. Therefore, the device will be launched already in 2023 or even in 2024. And if the original plan implied the arrival of the device to the asteroid in 2026, now we are talking about at least 2029 or 2030. That is, a delay in the launch for a period of six months to a year and a half will lead to an increase in the duration of the flight for a period of five to six years.

The total cost of the Psyche project, including the rocket, is $985 million. To date, 717 million dollars have already been spent. It is also important to note that the device will put the Falcon Heavy into orbit, which has been used only three times so far, although the first launch took place in early 2018. But in the near future, SpaceX will use this rocket much more actively, since four launches are planned before the end of this year alone.
