New Redmi Note 9 Pro caught fire, Xiaomi blames the user

Xiaomi smartphones often became the heroes of notes in which they spontaneously lit up. This time, a girl named Priyanka Prava spoke about how the new Redmi Note 9 Pro caught fire.

The girl claims to have bought a mobile phone in December 2020 for her younger brother. At some point, the boy noticed that the smartphone suddenly began to smoke. Without hesitation, the boy threw his smartphone into the water. The photo confirms that the smartphone caught fire.

However, Xiaomi has stated that this is “damage done by the customer themselves.” According to the company, the initial investigation showed that the explosion was due to external forces, so neither the smartphone nor the manufacturer is to blame for this. The company has not yet provided a clear explanation of what kind of “outside force” could have damaged the smartphone.

Customer safety is of the utmost importance to us and we take these issues very seriously. All of our devices pass various levels of rigorous quality tests. At this stage, we are investigating this case to determine the cause. According to the initial investigation, the damage was caused by an external force.
