New potential AMD hit: Ryzen 7 5700G APU is faster than Ryzen 7 5800X
During CES 2021, AMD unveiled the Ryzen 5000H and Ryzen 5000U APUs for laptops, and the Ryzen 5000G for the desktop is on the way. And judging by the Ryzen 7 5700G benchmark, the new desktop APUs may be even more popular than the simple Ryzen 5000 processors.
A Chinese source cited the Ryzen 7 5700G benchmarks in CPU-Z. With a maximum frequency of 4.75 GHz and a core voltage of 1.376 V, this APU significantly outperformed the Ryzen 7 3700X in CPU-Z. It also turned out to be faster than the eight-core Ryzen 7 5800X in Geekbench.
The rest of the tests were carried out in more gentle conditions – with a frequency of 4.625 GHz and a voltage of 1.36 V. But in this case, the Ryzen 7 5700G bypassed the Ryzen 7 5800X in the multi-threaded test, and in the single-threaded test it was slightly inferior.
It should be noted that the Ryzen 7 5800X has 8 cores with a frequency of 3.8-4.7 GHz and 36 MB of cache memory (the second and third levels in total), supports multithreading. Its TDP is 105 W. Ryzen 7 5700G has not yet been officially presented, but it is known that it also includes an 8-core CPU with multithreading support and a frequency of 3.8-4.6 GHz, a Vega 8 GPU with 512 cores, 20 MB of cache (also a total of L2 and L3). There is no exact date for the announcement of the Ryzen 5000G APUs, these APUs should be released in the first half of 2021.

Apple has released a software update for the MagSafe Duo charging station.
While Apple frequently releases firmware updates for most of its hardware, this is the first release since the MagSafe Duo officially debuted in 2020.
It’s not yet clear exactly what the firmware update does, as Apple hasn’t provided any release notes, but the latest firmware usually includes performance and security improvements, as well as increased compatibility with other devices.
The charging station will update automatically when it is in use and connected to the mains.
MagSafe Duo lets you charge your iPhone and Apple Watch at the same time and costs $129 in the US.
