New photo business owner Olympus has no plans to release full-frame cameras
Over the past ten years, Olympus has from time to time issued official statements that it has no plans to release full-frame cameras. As you know, the Japanese manufacturer’s photo business has recently changed its name to OM Digital Solutions and passed to a new owner. It seems that along with the assets, the obligation to deny plans related to full-frame cameras also passed to that.
Sigma recently held a presentation in which it hinted that a new member may join the L-mount alliance in the near future. This gave rise to some thematic resources to indulge in speculation that we are talking about OM Digital Solutions.
In fact, Olympus was invited to join the L-mount alliance back in 2018, but then the company turned down an offer that would have included full-frame mirrorless cameras and lenses for them.
Yesterday, during the live broadcast of the Four Thirds System roadmap event, a spokesman for OM Digital Solutions reiterated that it was not going to release full-frame cameras. The same position was confirmed by the second creator of the Micro Four Thirds system, Panasonic.
On the contrary, an OM Digital Solutions spokesman assured that a new Micro Four Thirds camera is under development. At the same time, explaining the discontinuation of the retro-styled PEN-F model, the manufacturer lamented that even if there were those who liked the device very much, on the whole it sold worse than expected.

Google Imagen neural network creates insane photorealistic images from a text description

Google has unveiled its new project called Imagen – an image generator based on a given text description.
According to the developers, the Imagen neural network outperforms DALL-E 2 from OpenAI, another AI-powered image generator. At the moment, Imagen is not available to the public, but the samples on display are impressive.
According to Google, the new text-to-image model is characterized by “an unprecedented degree of photorealism and a deep understanding of the language.”
Google provided images and samples of Imagen’s work, with styles ranging from simple drawings to oil paintings and computer graphics. They are accompanied by the words and phrases used in their creation.
After parsing the provided text description, Imagen generates a 64 x 64 pixel image, then performs two consecutive enhancements and converts the image to the larger 1024 x 1024 pixel size.

Windows 11 will have an easy way to restore all applications on a new PC

Microsoft has finally announced the imminent arrival of support for the app restore feature in the Microsoft Store in the Windows 11 operating system.
The software maker will soon begin testing a new feature that allows you to restore apps on a new Windows 11 PC. Currently, the Microsoft Store does not offer an automatic way to restore apps, instead forcing Windows users to manually install apps from the library.
Microsoft Store General Manager Giorgio Sardo said:
To make it easier for customers to migrate to new PCs quickly and seamlessly, we’ll soon be testing a new feature in the Windows Insider channel that will help customers automatically restore their previously installed apps from the Microsoft Store to a new Windows device.
Restoring applications will be especially useful for users who frequently change computers, or for developers who regularly use virtual machines and multiple devices. Previously, Windows users had to rely on third-party package managers to perform these kinds of tasks.

It’s official: Microsoft is finally bringing third-party widgets to Windows 11

Microsoft made an interesting announcement during the Build 2022 developer conference regarding the Windows 11 operating system – the long-awaited support for widgets created by third-party developers will soon appear in it.
At launch, Windows 11 only supported Microsoft branded widgets and more support was expected, but the company has remained silent until now. Previously, there were only rumors about such a function, but now it is officially presented.
As Microsoft notes, third-party developers will be able to offer their own widgets to Windows 11 users until the end of 2022. Developers will be able to create widgets for Win32 and PWA applications using the Adaptive Cards framework.
Widgets are small windows that display dynamic information in a special panel on the Windows desktop. There are only 11 widgets currently available in Windows 11, including weather, sports, games, photos, watchlist, entertainment, traffic, tasks, Outlook calendar, family safety, and tips.

Flagship clamshell Motorola Razr 3 showed in all its glory on video

Motorola, now owned by the Chinese Lenovo, has already begun to hint at the imminent release of the flagship clamshell Razr 3. Meanwhile, interesting information about it continues to appear on the network.
This time, Evan Blass, a well-known network whistleblower with a long track record of confirmed leaks, shared the details. To be more precise, Bless even posted a short video showing a working copy of the Motorola Razr 3 on, open and closed.
As we can see in the video, the Motorola Razr 3 clamshell, codenamed Maven, has received a redesign both inside and out.
In the video, we see the Razr 3 with the internal display turned on and thin bezels. The hinge mechanism is similar to past Razr phones. At the same time, the selfie camera is now embedded in the screen, and not placed in the “bangs”. Outside, the camera moved from the center to the corner.
