According to a new report from DigiTimes, the 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro with mini-LED display may ship in the first quarter of 2021.
Apple has reportedly diversified its display and touchpad supply chain, and GIS will begin supplying touchpads for iPhones and iPad Pro tablets.
“The subsidiary is investing an additional 753 million Taiwanese dollars in the automation of production lines. The subsidiary is currently producing touch modules for the iPad and MacBook, sources said.
In addition to iPhones, GIS will produce backlit mini-LED display integrated touch modules for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro due out in the first quarter of 2021, ”DigiTimes said in a report.
Mini-LED display technology with thousands of individual LEDs should provide all the advantages of OLED panels, but without their disadvantages. The developers promise improved contrast, richer colors and increased brightness.
The launch dates are partly confirmed by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said the iPad Pro with a mini-LED display will launch in the first half of 2021.
