New details on Exynos 2200 SoC and AMD GPU with RDNA2 architecture

The well-known network informant under the nickname Ice Universe, who often shares exclusive information about the latest developments in the mobile industry, has published new information about the flagship SoC Exynos 2200.

According to Ice Universe, the Exynos 2200 mobile platform is codenamed Pamir and will be manufactured using a 4nm manufacturing process. At the same time, the AMD graphics processor as part of this platform is codenamed Voyager.

AMD has previously officially confirmed that Samsung’s new SoC, Exynos, will feature a GPU based on the RDNA2 architecture, which was first introduced in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. AMD has licensed its GPUs to Samsung to help it develop cutting edge technology. such as ray tracing and variable frame rate rendering.

Clearly Samsung could have a competitive edge in terms of graphics performance over other smartphone manufacturers. According to preliminary information, Exynos 2200 is ahead of Snapdragon 895 in terms of CPU and graphics performance. It is also claimed that the Exynos 2200 will be faster than the Apple A15 in the graphics test, but the Apple A15’s CPU will be the fastest of the three new SoCs.

The Exynos 2200 is expected to debut in the Galaxy S22 series, which will launch early next year. However, Google’s first Exynos 2200-based SoC with AMD graphics could hit the Google Pixel 6 this fall.

Ice Universe accurately predicted the announcements of various Samsung image sensors, predicted the emergence of smartphones with “waterfall screens” like the Vivo Nex 3 on the market, and the announcement of the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha with a wraparound screen.
