Brydge has introduced a new accessory that may come in handy for MacBook users. It’s called ProDock. The docking station is compatible with the 2021 MacBook Pro and 2022 MacBook Air, allowing you to turn your laptop into a Mac Mini.
Simply insert your laptop into the docking station, after which you can connect monitors, keyboards and any other devices to it. For this there are such connectors:
- 3 x Thunderbolt 4;
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C;
- 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A;
- 1 x Gigabit Ethernet;
- 1 x 3.5mm audio output;
- 1 x SD card reader.
At the same time, the price is not encouraging – the docking station costs $ 400. Although it is cheaper than the Mac Mini, but given the cost of the laptop, it comes out much more expensive.
Of the features of the docking station, we also note the ability to charge a laptop (through the Thunderbolt 4 line, power is supplied up to 90 W). In addition, it has a Qi standard wireless charging panel with support for power up to 15W. This will also charge your smartphone.
Declared compatible with 2021 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops, as well as the new 13.6-inch MacBook Air.
By the way, it was previously reported why the new MacBook Air is so hot.
Mark Gurman: new Mac minis with M2 and M2 Pro processors are already in development, but they will get the old design
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman told the news about future Mac minis with M2 and M2 Pro chips. He told about it in the Power On newsletter. According to the journalist, Apple was working on a Mac mini with an M1 Pro processor, but now this is clearly irrelevant. It was planned to be released at the end of last year or at the beginning of this.
Instead, according to the expert, models with M2 and M2 Pro processors are expected. However, their design will remain the same. The new Mac mini, codenamed J473, will feature the M2 chip. The version with the M2 Pro received the code J474. The source notes that Apple does not plan to release Mac mini with M2 Max or Ultra chips, most likely they will be kept for Mac Pro.
As for other models with M2 chips, Gurman believes that the Mac Studio may be a short-lived product, since it is positioned for the same audience as the Mac Pro. Also in the fall, the MacBook Pro is expected to appear with M2 Pro and M2 Max processors.
Previously, Gurman reported that Macbook Air will only appear in old colors.
The blogger built a gaming computer into the toilet to play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on it
Modern gaming systems allow you to run games not only at home, but also on the street. This is implemented by powerful gaming laptops, portable consoles and smartphones. However, enthusiasts sometimes create original solutions that no company has come up with.
A blogger named Basically Homeless recently turned his own toilet into a gaming computer, and its basic functionality was not violated. To do this, he built a backlit game system into a porcelain toilet bowl, and built a cooling fan into the top cover.
The configuration uses an Intel Core i7-12700 processor, a Z690I Unify mini-ITX motherboard, 64GB of G.Skill Trident Z5 RAM, and an Asus-made Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. An MSI Optix monitor with a frequency of 240 Hz was placed on the wall. On this system, the author was able to play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on a computer.
“Now I know more about plumbing than I ever thought I knew.“, – the author specified.
And earlier, another blogger leaked the console version of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl to the network.
The consumer PC is on a whole new level. New generation Mac Pro on SoC M2 Extreme may be presented at the end of the year
The new Mac Pro on the M2 Extreme platform may be presented before the end of this year.
Journalist and insider Mark Gurman supplemented his data regarding this PC. He says that Apple may announce the Mac Pro at the end of this year, but it will be available for sale early next year.
Moreover, the new Mac Pro was allegedly ready a few months ago, and Apple could have released it with a platform from the M1 line, but decided to postpone the launch until the SoC M2 Extreme is ready.
What will be the M2 Extreme is not yet clear, since it has no analogues in the M1 line. But earlier there were rumors of 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores, which is just twice as much as the M1 Ultra, so that’s exactly what the new Apple platform could be. Given the performance of the M1 Ultra, one can only imagine how impressive the capabilities of the new Mac Pro will be.
But what will be the new Mac Pro itself, while there are not even rumors. Considering the transition to Apple Silicon, the new product may lose a lot in the ability to update or change the configuration by the users themselves.
