Netflix begins filming Assassin’s Creed

The streaming service has announced a series based on the popular Assassin’s Creed series. Executive Producers will be Jason Altman of Mythic Quest and Ubisoft Film & Television Boss Danielle Kreinik. The news was accompanied by a very short teaser on Netflix’s official Twitter, which showed the combination of the Assassin’s Creed and Netflix logos.

At the moment, nothing is known about the upcoming series. It is also unclear if the story of the entire franchise will be told or just one of its parts. Given Ubisoft’s approach to the storyline in Assassin’s Creed, it can be assumed that this will be an original narrative that fits into the established canon of the franchise.

It is worth noting that this is not the first film adaptation of the game. In 2016, the film of the same name starring Michael Fassbender was released, which received a lot of negative reviews. For some time, Ubisoft thought about a sequel to this film, but after the purchase of the studio by media giant Disney, these plans were not destined to come true.

In 2017, showrunner on Netflix’s Castlevania, Adi Shankar, suggested that his next project could be the animated series Assassin’s Creed. Since then, no one has heard about this, and during today’s announcement, Netflix casually mentioned animation projects based on Assassin’s Creed. So it is likely that an animated series for the game is also in development.
