NASA says James Webb Space Telescope is irreversibly damaged

NASA reported that a small meteorite damaged the main mirror of the James Webb telescope more than previously expected.

NASA says James Webb Space Telescope is irreversibly damaged

The impact occurred between May 22 and May 24, 2022. Apparently, we are talking about a meteorite, the impact of which fell on the C3 segment. Then NASA announced only a minor effect that arose after the collision. Now we are talking about irreversible damage. Scientists had to try and adjust the mirror so as to compensate for most of the negative effects.

Unlike the Hubble Space Telescope, whose main mirror is hidden in a cylindrical body, the James Webb mirror with a diameter of 6.5 meters is open. Scientists estimate that James Webb may encounter potentially dangerous micrometeorites about once a month.

Nubia Z60 Ultra will refute the thesis about the uselessness

The Nubia brand today published details about the camera of the future flagship Nubia Z60 Ultra. In particular, we are talking about its module with an ultra-wide-angle lens.

Nubia Z60 Ultra will refute the thesis about the uselessness of ultra-wide-angle cameras in smartphones

With its new flagship, Nubia will try to “refute the theory that wide-angle cameras are useless.” This refers to photo quality: modules with ultra-wide-angle lenses are equipped with low-quality optics, low-resolution sensors and small optical formats, and all this naturally leads to the fact that the photo quality of the ultra-wide-angle camera is much inferior to the photo quality of the main camera.

But this will not happen in the Nubia Z60 Ultra: the corresponding module will have a fast (F/1.8) 50-megapixel 1/1.56-inch optical format sensor, complemented by an eight-element lens and an optical stabilization system. In general, this model will have triple OIS – in each of the three modules.

The official premiere of Nubia Z60 Ultra will take place on December 19. The smartphone will receive Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 6000 mAh battery and IP68 protection.
