NASA made nebulae and galaxies “sound”: sounds convey more than the visible image

Published

NASA’s Aeronautics and Space Administration continues its efforts to popularize space exploration among the public. This time NASA has posted three videos that add a sound component to the images obtained as a result of various missions.

In fact, images of space are transformed into a kind of video clips. As explained by NASA, the original content of the space observations has not been changed during the creation of the music. In this case, different colors in the images are represented by different sounds.

This processing was applied to images of the Cat’s Eye Nebula, the Whirlpool Galaxy, as well as the image of space obtained by the X-ray observatory Chandra.

It is noted that the music covers the entire frequency range observed by the X-ray observatory, while the image is less detailed as the frequencies had to be compressed into visible RGB colors. NASA states:

“However, when you play audio, you can see the entire spectrum of data. ”

Some motherboards will turn the Core i9 13900K into a power

Intel can make the Core i9-13900K even more attractive with a new auto-overclocking mode.

Some motherboards will turn the Core i9-13900K into a power consumption monster. The power limit will increase to 350W

The source reports that some motherboards based on 700-series chipsets will allow you to activate an increased power limit. In this case, we are talking about a value of 350 watts. For comparison, Alder Lake has a maximum of 241 watts.

The values of PL1 and PL2 for the new CPUs will hardly change and will amount to 125 and 253 W, respectively. But there will also be an opportunity to remove the limit, thanks to which the Core i9-13900K will be able to consume up to 350 watts. In this case, of course, the motherboard will need a powerful power supply subsystem, and the processor will need a productive CO.

CPU performance in this mode can increase by 15%, although this will depend on the tasks. Whether the Core i9-13900KS, which was previously assigned a frequency of up to 6 GHz, will be released under such conditions is now unclear.

In 10 years there will be about 70000 satellites in

About 70,000 spacecraft could be in Earth orbit by 2032. Sergey Boev, chief designer of the missile attack warning system, general director of Vympel IAC, spoke about this within the framework of the Army-2022 forum.

In 10 years, there will be about 70,000 satellites in Earth orbit.

The population density of space objects is increasing, which creates a significant threat of collisions. Now the United States, the EU countries, China and India are announcing the creation of their own megagroups of hundreds and even thousands of devices. According to our forecasts, within 10 years, the constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit can increase to 70,000 operating spacecraft“, – he said.

Boev noted that such a number of functioning satellites will be accompanied by an abundance of space debris, which will greatly complicate the situation.

All this needs to be controlled. It is necessary to improve the capabilities of the domestic space control system, increase the domestic space constellation, create small-sized spacecraft and space control tools, and need the ability to exchange information with other systems“, – said Sergey Boev.

Android 13 fixes over 150 bugs on Pixel smartphones

It turned out that in Android 13, the search giant fixed a huge number of bugs that existed in Pixel smartphones. More specifically, the list includes 151 issues that Google has fixed in the update.

In particular, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have a much better in-display fingerprint scanner, the slowness of which many have complained about. We also fixed the issue with double-tap to wake up the screen, Always-On Display, auto-brightness, auto-rotate the screen, and more. Users of the new Pixels say that smartphones have simply become faster and more stable.

As a reminder, Android 13 is available for Google models starting with the Pixel 4 line.
