Mysterious fireball in the sky shines brighter than the “sturgeon” supermoon: photos and video
Early on Wednesday morning (August 2), a fireball swept across the skies of the southeastern United States. And thanks to local amateur astronomers, this event was captured on video. The American Meteor Society received 74 fireball reports on the night of the sturgeon supermoon from Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. According to the reports, the fireball was flying across the sky, heading to the southeast.
Some reports also stated that the fireball created “sonic booms” that were loud enough to “shake” buildings and wake up bystanders.

I have never seen anything like it. The initial flash was bright and brighter than the street light in the yard where I was standing. So I raised my head and saw him. The “boom” after a few moments was enough to scare me.
And other:
The brightness was enough to block out the current full moon in the east.
The mysterious phenomenon was originally thought to be caused by the Perseid meteor shower. However, the path of the mysterious object did not coincide with the radiant of the Perseids, and indeed of any other current star rain.
According to NASA meteor expert Bill Cooke, the fireball is most likely a fragment of a comet about 30 cm in diameter and weighing about 34 kg. Cook elaborated:
It entered Earth’s atmosphere about 50 miles above Krypton, Kentucky (yes, indeed), moving roughly southeast at 37,000 miles per hour. The object traveled 65 miles through the atmosphere before disintegrating 30 miles over Duffield, Virginia.
