More than 70% of smartphone sales in the world come from just five companies
Experts from the analytical company Gartner have prepared a report that summarizes data on smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2021. The smartphone market is said to have grown by 26% over the same period last year. If in the first quarter of last year, 300 million devices were shipped, then in the last quarter – almost 378 million.
Samsung remains the largest smartphone supplier. Moreover, the South Korean manufacturer has increased shipments from 55.333 to 76.661 million units. As a result, Samsung’s share increased from 18.4% to 20.3%.
In second place is Apple. Over the year, it increased deliveries from 40.920 to 58.551 million units. This led to an increase in Apple’s share from 13.6% to 15.5%.
Next comes Xiaomi. It increased shipments from 29.678 to 48.939 million units, which resulted in an increase in the market share held by the Chinese manufacturer from 9.9% to 12.9%.
The top five are closed by Oppo and Vivo, which each own 10.2% of the market. A year ago, their shares were 7.4% and 8.0%, respectively. The total share of all other manufacturers decreased over the year from 42.6% to 30.9%.

The maximum frequencies of single-chip systems for smartphones have not changed for many years. But the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC could be very different from anything that came before. According to MyDrivers, Qualcomm’s new platform’s super-core frequency could reach an impressive 3.72 GHz!
For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is 3.2 GHz, while the version for Galaxy has a frequency increased to 3.36 GHz. That is, there will be an increase of 16% relative to the regular version. And in general, this is a very high value for mobile SoCs based on the Arm architecture.
According to leaks, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will have a configuration of 1 + 5 + 2, that is, there will be only two energy-efficient cores. This should greatly improve performance even without taking into account frequencies, but how voracious such a platform will be is an open question.
The network already has the result of the new SoC in Geekbench, where the platform scores 1930 and 6236 points in single-threaded and multi-threaded modes, respectively, but this is so much that for now it is worth treating this result with caution.

The resolution of the main camera is 21 megapixels, the front camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels.
According to the news published by well-known blogger Digital Chat Station, Realme will introduce a combination of high-capacity battery and fast charging for the first time in the upcoming Realme GT Neo5 SE smartphone.
The Realme GT Neo5 SE’s 5,500mAh battery will reportedly support 100W fast charging. To be more precise, the smartphone will be equipped with a two-cell battery design (two modules with a capacity of 2750 mAh).
According to Xu Qi, president of Realme China, the Realme GT Neo5 SE will implement a new lithium battery technology, which will be announced at the presentation.
