More PlayStation Exclusives To Move To PC: Sony Acquires Well-Known PC Port Experts From Nixxes Software

Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially announced the acquisition of yet another studio to join the larger PlayStation Studios team. This time we are talking about the Dutch team Nixxes Software.

Since its founding in the late 90s, the company has focused solely on supporting other developers, regularly porting games to a wide variety of platforms. Until now, Nixxes has only supported games released by Square Enix. Her work list includes both the old Legacy of Cain and the recent Marvel’s Avengers. The studio also ported Tomb Raider and Deus Ex games to PC.

I have a lot of respect for Nixxes and am delighted that this experienced team has become part of the worldwide Sony development community. They have a passion for improving games and providing the ultimate experience for gamers. Nixx will be an important asset for everyone at PlayStation Studios, helping our teams focus on their most important goal, which is creating unique PlayStation content at its best.

Given Nixxes’ experience in porting, it is believed that the studio will allow more PlayStation exclusives to be brought to the PC without Sony having to distract PlayStation developers from creating new games.

Also joining PlayStation Studios this week is Housemarque, who recently released the PlayStation 5-exclusive Returnal.
