MIUI 12.5 out of the box, Dimensity 1200, 120Hz, 64MP, 5065mAh, 67W for $ 310. Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition presented – the most affordable and lightest gaming smartphone
Today Redmi officially unveiled the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition gaming smartphone. Surprisingly, rumors correctly predicted the cost of the model: 2,000 yuan, or roughly $ 310. That is how much the basic version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory costs. Thus, this model has become the most affordable gaming smartphone in its niche.
But not only affordable: Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition is also quite compact – the thickness of the case is 8.3 mm. At the same time, the device has a battery with a capacity of 5065 mAh – 12% more than in other models of the K40 series. The weight was 205 grams. For comparison, the thickness of other gaming flagships ranges from 9.7-10.32 mm, and the weight is 220-262 grams.
The smartphone is built on a 6-nanometer single-chip MediaTek Dimensity 1200 platform with Arm Cortex-A78 cores of 3.0 GHz and an Arm Mali-G77 GPU with updated drivers. In AnTuTu, the smartphone is gaining about 720,000 points. Of course, such a model is not able to compete with models on the Snapdragon 888, but in general, this performance will be sufficient for most games. And for the convenience of the game, pull-out keys with a magnetic drive are provided.
Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition received a 6.67-inch OLED screen with Full HD + resolution with 120 Hz frame rate, 480 Hz touch layer polling rate, 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage and HDR10 + support. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 tempered glass.
The camera is represented by three modules. The sensor is mainly used with a resolution of 64 megapixels and a fast lens with an aperture of F / 1.65. The second module has an 8-megapixel sensor and an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120 ° viewing angle, the third one has a 2-megapixel sensor and a 40 mm focal length lens for macro shooting. An interesting feature of this model is the customizable RGB lighting located right in the camera block.
The sound subsystem of the model is with two JBL speakers, a dedicated amplifier, support for Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio (with wired and wireless connections), three microphones. The device also has a powerful vibration motor, Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 adapters.
Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition received the fastest wired charging of all Redmi models – its power is 67W. Quick Charge 3.0 and Power Delivery 3.0 protocols are also supported. The OS uses Android 11 with the MIUI 12.5 interface out of the box – for the first time among Xiaomi smartphones.
The smartphone is already available for pre-order in China, with real sales starting on April 30. Prices and configurations are as follows:
- 6 GB RAM / 128 GB flash storage – $ 310;
- 8 GB RAM / 128 GB flash storage – $ 340;

Buy a PlayStation 5 to play the original PlayStation games. The network has the first review of the classic game as part of the new PS Plus

As you know, in the updated PlayStation Plus subscription, gamers will also have access to games from the very first generation of the Sony console. And the first review of such a game has already appeared on the Web.
The fact is that such games began to appear in some countries in the PlayStation Store even now, although the updated PS Plus service has not yet started.
One of the authors of YouTube took advantage of this. He tested the emulator on the example of the game Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, which was released back in 1997. It turned out that everything works very well.
Saves are available to gamers, there are rewards, you can also choose the aspect ratio and visual filter for the image. Of course, there are no improvements for such games, but for many this is a plus, since it is possible to play exactly those games that have been loved since childhood.

New GTA, which is not related to GTA VI: they started talking about the game after the purchase of Take-Two by Zynga

Back in January of this year, video game developer Take-Two announced it was acquiring Zynga for $12.7 billion. Take-Two today announced the closing of a deal that could result in a new GTA game for smartphones, according to a source.
At the moment, this is the largest acquisition in the history of the gaming industry. Yes, Microsoft’s nearly $69 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard is far superior to that deal, but Microsoft and Activision Blizzard’s deal isn’t expected to close until next year.
According to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, Zynga’s expertise can help it advance its free-to-play and cross-platform gaming ambitions and bring its universes from consoles and PC to mobile devices. Take-Two belongs to the Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead, Max Payne, Civilization, Mafia, BioShock, XCOM and other series.
Zynga CEO Frank Gibaud added, “We’re excited to take this one step further by combining Zynga’s free-to-play experience and next-generation mobile platform experience with best-in-class features and renowned Take-Two intellectual property.”
The main game that Take-Two is waiting to announce is GTA VI, but it is unlikely to be released anytime soon.

AMD wants to conquer the market for cheap laptops. The company is preparing new processors similar to the APU in the Steam Deck console

Earlier this year, AMD introduced Ryzen 6000 mobile processors with Zen 3+ architecture processor cores and RDNA 2 architecture-based GPUs. Early next year, the company should release Ryzen 7000 Dragon Range/Phoenix mobile APUs. It turns out that between these generations, AMD wants to squeeze in another one.
According to leaked slides, the company is going to release Mendocino processors in the fourth quarter, which will be very unusual in their characteristics. They will combine the old Zen 2 processor cores, the latest RDNA 2 iGPU, and the modern 6nm process technology. It’s similar to the Van Goch APU in the Steam Deck console, only on a more modern process.
Mendocino will have a maximum of four processor cores, that is, they will not boast high performance by modern standards. Instead, they will focus on thin, light, and affordable laptops in the $400-$700 price range. The new APUs will allow these mobile PCs to operate autonomously for more than 10 hours.
Apparently, Mendocino APUs will coexist with Ryzen 6000 and Ryzen 7000, focusing on the lower price range. At the same time, they may well get a sufficiently productive iGPU if AMD endows the APU with at least 512 stream processors.
