MIPI A-PHY v1.1 specification is ready

The industry organization MIPI Alliance announced the completion of the MIPI A-PHY v1.1 specification, which describes a serial-to-parallel and parallel-to-serial (SerDes) physical layer interface for automotive electronics. Version 1.1 doubles the downstream data rate from 16 Gbps to 32 Gbps, and the upstream data rate doubles from 100 Mbps to 200 Mbps. In addition, other improvements have been made to help OEMs and their suppliers implement high-performance image sensors and displays in next-generation vehicles. The specification is being reviewed by members of the MIPI Alliance. Its official approval is expected within the next 90 days.

Following the completion of the MIPI Alliance adoption process, the A-PHY v1.1 specification will also be submitted for adoption as an IEEE standard. Earlier this year, the A-PHY v1.0 specification was adopted as the IEEE 2977-2021 standard.

MIPI A-PHY is the first industry standard, asymmetric extended range SerDes interface that enables high-speed communication between automotive image sensors and displays and their associated electronic control units. It was designed to facilitate the integration of more on-board sensors and displays into Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), digital cockpits, on-board infotainment systems (IVI) and autonomous driving systems (ADS).

A-PHY provides a range of up to 15m, unparalleled reliability with ultra-low 10-19 packet error rates, high noise immunity and ultra-low latency. It also forms the backbone of MIPI Automotive SerDes Solutions (MASS), an end-to-end infrastructure for connecting cameras, sensors and displays with built-in functional safety, security and data protection. A-PHY v1.1 maintains full compatibility with A-PHY v1.0, and devices conforming to any version of the specification can coexist on the same network.

Ulefone announced the start of sales of the Note 12P smartphone, which features a large-capacity 7700 mAh battery.
