Microsoft has decided not to launch the xCloud streaming gaming service on iOS due to Apple’s rules. Instead, the company will bring it to the browser.
The head of the gaming division of Microsoft Phil Spencer at a meeting with employees said that xCloud should earn on iOS in 2021.
Apple initially banned gaming services on iOS, but after criticism changed the rules of the App Store. Now developers can run them on iOS, but with certain restrictions.
Microsoft doesn’t like this approach, so xCloud will bypass the App Store. Amazon made a similar decision for its Luna gaming service.
