At Microsoft’s Inspire conference, Microsoft unveiled a new service called Windows 365. It’s a cloud-based service that provides familiar interface, Windows applications, and content from virtually any device.
Microsoft itself markets Windows 365 as a “cloud computing” that “delivers the performance and security of the cloud, combined with the ease of use and versatility of a computer.”
In fact, the user in the browser accesses the cloud version of Windows 10 or Windows 11. The service is based on Azure Virtual Desktop.
Windows 365 allows users to access apps, data, content, settings, and file storage in the Microsoft cloud – from Linux computers, macOS computers, iPads or Android tablets, and more. Windows 365 will work with all modern browsers or through the Microsoft Remote Desktop app.
As noted on the Windows 365 page, the service will be available on August 2, 2021. At the moment, it is focused on companies and business users – from individual entrepreneurs to thousands of corporations. You will have to pay for Windows 365 monthly based on the number of connected users. The exact pricing has not yet been announced.
Microsoft plans to offer two versions of the service – Windows 365 Business and Windows 365 Enterprise. Both have such minimum device requirements – 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
