Published

on

Microsoft has published instructions for users who are testing the Windows 11 operating system who have encountered a bug in the new taskbar. Recent builds 22449 and 22000.176 contain a bug that causes the Start menu and taskbar to disappear from the screen.

Due to this bug in the taskbar, the new graphical interface becomes almost useless. Upon detecting an issue, Microsoft disabled the distribution of the update for Insiders and Beta Testers and has worked to resolve the issue.

Now, Microsoft has announced a workaround for this issue by posting a sequence of actions for users:

  • Use CTRL-ALT-DEL to open the Task Manager
  • Select “More Info” at the bottom of Task Manager to expand Task Manager
  • Go to “File” and select “Run new task”
  • Enter “cmd” in the “Open” field
  • Paste in the following: reg delete HKCU SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion IrisService / f && shutdown -r -t 0
  • Press Enter and your computer should restart. After reboot everything should be fine

Honda to start installing Android on on-board computers in cars starting next year

on

Honda Motor has partnered with Google to begin installing Android on the on-board computers of major car models sold around the world next year. Users will be able to navigate, play music records, voice control and other features – all without using a smartphone.

Google’s Android Automotive system, introduced in 2015, has the same basic design as the Android operating system for smartphones. Volvo Cars tried it first (the illustration shows a Volvo car), followed by other automakers, including General Motors. Nissan Motor was the first among Japanese companies. Honda will be second.

Honda has a history of using Android Auto, a technology that makes it easier to use Android smartphones in cars. But Android Auto relies on a smartphone for navigation and other features. In the case of Android Automotive, a smartphone is not needed. Google Voice Control can be used to control air conditioning and other functions that are not directly related to driving and are therefore safe.

The operating system will also be installed on electric vehicles. It will allow you to find compatible charging stations, get directions to them and optimize the temperature of the battery when you arrive to charge, to reduce the time required for charging.
