Microsoft has taken another step to push Windows 11 users to only use the Edge web browser, whether they like it or not.
After installing the fresh Windows 11 update (Build 22494), users started reporting that the operating system no longer allows opening links related to the system to Microsoft Edge in third-party browsers.
In recent years, Microsoft has used a custom URI scheme to force links in Edge to open through native services – such as Windows 11 widgets, the Start menu, and so on. By using the “microsoft-edge:” URL prefix, a company can force the operating system to open a site in the branded browser, even if the default is different.
Until now, users could rely on the free EdgeDeflector service to counter this scheme. In addition, the third party browsers Firefox and Brave have their own built-in workarounds. However, after the recent Windows 11 update, none of these solutions have remained viable.
While Microsoft hasn’t gone so far as to force all web links to run in Edge, the move is unlikely to be popular with Windows 11 users, many of whom use third-party browsers.
Screen 6.55 inches, 108 MP, 4300 mAh, 67 W and MIUI 13. Xiaomi 12 Lite is presented, and it turned out to be expensive
The Xiaomi 12 Lite smartphone, which was rumored for almost half a year, went on sale in Azerbaijan. The cost of the device was $ 590 – not cheap for a model built on the SoC Snapdragon 778G. So much money is asked for a configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory.
The Xiaomi 12 is larger than the Xiaomi 12 and features a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz frame rate. Embedded front camera – with a sensor with a resolution of 32 megapixels, the main camera – with sensors with a resolution of 108, 8 and 2 megapixels.
The smartphone received a 4300 mAh battery with support for 67 W fast charging, as well as Android 12 with MIUI 13 interface. There are also stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The thickness of the device is 7.29 mm, weight is 173 grams.
WhatsApp will introduce a feature of video calls “for the shy”. You can replace yourself with an avatar
WhatsApp messenger will soon have a curious feature that will allow you to make video calls using an avatar.
That is, your interlocutor during a video call will not see you, but your avatar. This is similar to how Memoji/Bitmoji works.
How exactly the avatar will look like is not yet clear, but there is a screenshot showing a button to switch to such a mode. In addition, it will be possible to send your avatars to chats in the form of stickers. The avatars themselves can be created independently in a special editor.
The function has already been found in the software code, but it is not yet available even in beta mode. There is no release date for the feature either, although it is noted that it will initially appear on Android.
Elon, are you okay? The head of Tesla abruptly stopped posting anything on Twitter
Elon Musk celebrated the milestone of 100 million followers on the social network Twitter in an uncharacteristic way for him: he did not write anything about this at all.
Many have already noticed that the billionaire, who recently was about to acquire Twitter and regularly left a lot of interesting and not very messages on the social network, has not published anything on the social network for the ninth day in a row. His last post was related to the next increase in gasoline prices in the US, he was made on June 21.
In the five weeks leading up to June 16, Elon Musk averaged 145 tweets and retweets per week, or about 21 per day. On June 16, an open letter signed by SpaceX employees was released, describing Musk’s tweets as “a frequent source of distraction and embarrassment.”
Some of those who signed the letter were immediately fired, but Musk’s tweets plummeted, and after June 21, he stopped posting anything on the social network.
