Microsoft continues to develop the Android subsystem integrated into Windows 11 (Windows Subsystem for Android, WSA). For participants in the Windows Subsystem for Android Preview test program, update 2301.40000.4.0 has been released.
The company promises several improvements in the latest version. The main measurement was probably the performance increase in terms of frame rate, close to 50% in the case of x86 processors, i.e. AMD and Intel, and up to 20% for ARM.
In addition, the update brings the Android 13 security update and a number of additional improvements, including improved sound processing and camera work.
Android 13 beta testing on Windows Subsystem for Android began in late December 2022.
Samsung Galaxy S24 features can now be tried on any Android smartphone
Samsung has updated the Try Galaxy app to allow users to enjoy Galaxy AI features even if they don’t have a Galaxy phone. The list includes features like Live Translate, which translates conversations in real time, Chat Assist, which helps users change the tone of their messages, and Note Assist, which automatically generates a summary of notes.
Previously, the Try Galaxy app was only available on iOS and was aimed at encouraging iPhone users to switch to Android. The app is now available for both Android and iOS, allowing users to try out the Galaxy S24 series and One UI 6.1 features before purchasing a new phone.
Try Galaxy mimics the look and feel of the Galaxy S24 home screen and includes tutorials and interactive content to help users learn how to use new features. There are also widgets with a breakdown of Google’s main AI features.
Live Translate allows users to communicate in different languages by translating phone calls and text in real time. Note Assist helps users organize their notes by automatically creating summaries and formatting text. Chat Assist helps users improve the tone of their messages, making them more professional or casual depending on the situation. Photo Assist provides photo editing tools such as removing objects, resizing images, and erasing reflections. Circle to Search with Google allows users to search for something on the screen by drawing a circle around it.
In addition to AI features, the app also showcases the Galaxy S24 series’ advanced camera tools, including Nightography Zoom for clear nighttime photos, Super Steady for recording videos of moving objects, and Portrait Mode for stunning portraits and selfies. Users can also explore new Galaxy themes and artistic wallpapers, and learn about features such as multi-device connectivity, file sharing, and health data tracking.
The Try Galaxy app is available in 20 languages. It can be accessed by visiting trygalaxy.com or scanning the QR code.

Will smartphones “mutate” into this in the coming years? The Germans from Deutsche Telekom showed the concept of an AI smartphone without any applications
The German company Deutsche Telekom showed the concept of a smartphone without any applications.
The company initially talked about it a week ago, and now brought it to MWC 2024. During the presentation, the head of Deutsche Telekom expressed confidence that in 10 years no applications for users will exist, and all the work will be taken over by artificial intelligence.
Let us remember that the idea is that the user asks the AI to do something, and then the AI itself does it using some sites, platforms and services. For example, he orders a taxi, reserves a table in a restaurant, or buys movie tickets.
True, Deutsche Telekom was not able to fully demonstrate all this, since the concept is still very limited in capabilities. However, that’s why it’s a concept. Let us remember that the Rabbit R1 smartphone with a similar concept was shown at the beginning of the year.
Of course, artificial intelligence in smartphones will play a very important role in the foreseeable future, but in order for smartphone owners to completely stop using applications, it is necessary that at least all modern social networks and communication platforms cease to be of interest to these same users.
