Microsoft Launches ChatGPT-Based Copilot AI Testing on Windows 11 for Interested People
Microsoft has opened testing of an innovation announced in May – a Bing proprietary interface based on the ChatGPT chat bot built right into Windows 11. The new Windows Copilot is available in Windows 11 build number 23493 as part of the Windows Insider testing program in the Dev channel.
Windows Copilot uses the web rendering capabilities of Microsoft’s proprietary browser. Microsoft Edge version 115.0.1901.150 or later must be installed to work. Microsoft has also confirmed that users need to sign in with a Microsoft account in order to use Windows Copilot. If you are already signed in to a Microsoft account on Windows, Copilot will use it automatically.
Windows Copilot is currently in its early stages of development and does not yet include all of the previously announced features. However, the user can ask the assistant to turn Do Not Disturb on and off, switch between dark and light theme, take screenshots, summarize text from the site in the browser, and so on.
Windows Copilot does not appear over apps or games. Instead, it’s pinned to the right side of the screen so it can be used with just about any application on Windows.

It’s official: Windows 11’s next big update is arriving. With Copilot chatbot, RAR support and more

Microsoft has announced the release date for the next major feature update to the Windows 11 operating system. The version is labeled 23H2 and will become available on September 26, 2023.
The update will include a new AI-powered Windows Copilot feature, a redesigned Explorer, a new Ink Anywhere feature for stylus users, significant improvements to the Paint graphics editor, native support for RAR and 7-zip files, a new volume mixer, and more.
Windows Copilot is a major new feature in Windows 11 23H2 that brings the Bing Chat chatbot directly to the Windows 11 desktop. The new Copilot appears as a sidebar, making it easy to manage settings on your PC, launch apps, or simply get answers to questions. Copilot is also integrated throughout the operating system, with Microsoft executives demonstrating the use of Copilot to write text messages using data from your calendar, Outlook, and more.
Ink Anywhere lets you handwrite with a Surface Pen or other stylus in any text field, anywhere on Windows. The OS converts what the user writes into text. There will also be built-in RGB lighting controls for gaming devices such as keyboards, mice, monitors, case fans, and so on.
The improved Windows Backup app will allow you to back up data to your PC when you want to move to a new device. Existing settings will automatically be transferred to the new PC, even pinned applications in the Start menu and taskbar, all applications from the Microsoft Store will be automatically restored.

The update forces Microsoft Edge into tablet mode, even on desktop PCs running Windows 11 and 10. But there is a way out

The latest update released by Microsoft has led to a strange crash in the proprietary Microsoft Edge browser on PCs running Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating systems. The problem was brought to the attention of the WindowsLatest thematic resource.
As the source notes, after the update, the browser interface automatically switched to “touch” or “tablet” mode, which is characterized by increased buttons and distances between interface elements, including tabs. Typically this interface is used to make the browser more touch-friendly. The problem is that this mode appears on regular computers with Windows 10 and Windows 11 without a touch screen, including desktop ones.
Apparently, Microsoft mistakenly enabled tablet support mode. As a result of the failure, desktop PCs are identified as tablets and touch mode is activated.
Fortunately, WindowsLatest found a very simple way out of the situation. The user only needs to go to the browser settings, go to the “Appearance” section and manually disable “touch mode”.

Redmi K70 Pro could be one of the first smartphones to run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. A test on Geekbench showed that it has 16 GB of RAM and Android 14

A new Xiaomi smartphone with catalog number 23117RK66C has appeared in the Geekbench database. According to the ITHome resource, this designation hides the future Redmi flagship – Redmi K70 Pro. Considering that the prototype was tested (and even in Geekbench 5), you can ignore the test results, but there is confirmation that this model is built on Qualcomm’s new top-end SoC – Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The code designation for this single-chip system is manet. It is also interesting that the Redmi K70 Pro has 16 GB of RAM and Android 14 pre-installed.
Considering that the test of the new Redmi flagship appeared unusually early, one might think that the smartphone will be released earlier than its predecessors. The premiere of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected on October 24, the first day of the annual Snapdragon Summit, followed by announcements of production models based on this SoC. That is, the premiere of Redmi K70 Pro could take place as early as November.
