Despite the fact that many tech companies focus on cloud gaming services, there are a huge number of console users in the world. Microsoft Xbox CEO Phil Spencer said “investment in cloud gaming will not kill consoles.” He added that Microsoft is already planning to release new consoles.
This confirms that the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S won’t be Microsoft’s last game consoles. Spencer stated that the gaming industry is currently undergoing huge changes. Moreover, the emergence of cloud services has allowed many to touch games that were previously unavailable to them.
We recognize that Xbox Game Pass is growing in importance and future investment in this area will not diminish. Microsoft will also provide more quality content for Game Pass subscribers.
This isn’t the first time Spencer has said that cloud gaming won’t replace traditional consoles. Last August, an Xbox executive admitted that cloud gaming is becoming a very popular destination.
