Microsoft buys Crytek, Crysis restart won’t come to PlayStation consoles

According to Windows Central editor Jez Corden, Microsoft will announce a new studio purchased this week at E3 2021 to join Xbox Game Studios.

Other insiders report that this is a large-scale acquisition: Microsoft allegedly bought the Crytek company, which is known for the Crysis series of shooters. The negotiations had been going on for a long time, and in April everything had already been finally decided.

Additionally, this week Microsoft and Crytek are to officially announce the Crysis relaunch, titled The Crysis, to showcase new technologies. The game will not appear on PlayStation consoles. It is being created for PC as well as Xbox Series X | S. The project will run on consoles at 60 frames per second with ray tracing.

Crytek has previously officially announced the enhanced Crysis Trilogy for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
