Micron Technology, which released its quarterly report yesterday, simultaneously announced a definitive agreement to sell its Lehi, Utah factory to Texas Instruments (TI). Micron estimates the economic impact of the sale at $ 1.5 billion, including $ 900 million in direct sales and approximately $ 600 million in the value of certain equipment and other assets. The company has sold part of these assets, and the rest will be kept for placement at other production sites or for sale to other buyers.

With a highly skilled workforce with advanced semiconductor manufacturing experience, TI will invite all factory workers to continue working after a change of ownership. The deal is expected to close this calendar year.

Micron announced its intention to sell the Leh facility in March this year, while also stating that it will discontinue 3D XPoint memory and focus on developing new memory solutions for data centers using CXL interconnect technology.
