Microchip SyncServer S600 time server is protected from GPS interference and glitches

Critical networks and other sensitive corporate infrastructure can only maintain reliable operation if they constantly receive accurate time information from network time servers. However, these servers can be vulnerable to global positioning system (GPS) interference and data spoofing attacks. Microchip Technology announced a solution to this problem by integrating its BlueSky time signal anomaly detection software into the SyncServer S600 series of time servers.
Microchip said it was the first to fully integrate GPS jamming and spoofing detection and protection mechanisms with local logging and analysis of RF data into a time server. The SyncServer S600 Series Stratum 1 timekeeper, along with BlueSky smart interference and spoofing detectors, continuously monitors the status of the local GPS constellation and verifies the integrity of the GPS and local RF signal to validate the readings.
When an anomaly is detected, an alarm is generated. If necessary, the device can be switched to alternative time sources or an internal generator. This protects the current synchronization output while providing minimal and predictable degradation in timekeeping for vital network and business operations across applications ranging from banking and stock trading to power, aerospace and defense.
