MediaTek is the first to show Wi-Fi 7 technology in action
MediaTek has hosted the world’s first Wi-Fi 7 demo to showcase the capabilities of its upcoming Filogic family of Wi-Fi 7 solutions to key customers and industry peers. Note that MediaTek has been involved in the development of the Wi-Fi 7 standard since its inception.
According to MediaTek, it was able to show that Filogic with Wi-Fi 7 support can reach the maximum speed defined by IEEE 802.11be. In addition, the technology of multi-channel operation (MLO) was demonstrated. This technology combines multiple channels in different frequency bands at the same time to show how network traffic can still flow smoothly even when there is interference or congestion in the bands. MLO technology will be critical to enable faster, more reliable streaming of videos, games, and anything else that requires constant, sustained, real-time bandwidth.

The Wi-Fi 7 standard is unique in that it offers completely new possibilities in all available bands for using Wi-Fi, including 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz. Using 320 MHz channels and 4K Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) technology, Wi-Fi 7 will deliver 2.4 times the speed of Wi-Fi 6 even with the same number of antennas. Wi-Fi 7 devices are expected to hit the market in 2023.
