MediaTek has announced its solutions with support for Wi-Fi 7
MediaTek this week unveiled the flagship SoC Dimensity 9000, which for the first time bypassed (and by a large margin!) Qualcomm’s top SoCs. The Dimensity 9000 isn’t the only new addition to MediaTek, however. During the announcement event, the Taiwanese company also mentioned Wi-Fi 7-enabled solutions.
The solutions themselves were not shown – their company will demonstrate at CES 2022. But MediaTek said that they will provide data transfer rates 2.4 times faster than solutions with support for Wi-Fi 6. And data transmission delays will decrease.
MediaTek also announced two Wi-Fi 6E wireless modules for AMD Ryzen processors – they form the AMD RZ600 series of wireless controllers and will be used in laptops with AMD APUs in 2022. Both controllers (AMD RZ616 and AMD RZ608) are based on the MediaTek Filogic 330P chip.

Intel has started the process of retiring processors that were less than two years old. Rocket Lake will ship for another year

The 11th generation Intel Core processors are relatively recent by market standards, but the company has already begun the end-of-life process, that is, the end-of-life process.
The latest “Product Change Notice” states that on February 6, Intel started the process of phasing out Rocket Lake CPU production. However, as always in such cases, this does not mean that such processors will abruptly completely disappear from the market. The last batch of such CPUs will be shipped only on February 23, 2024.
Rocket Lake-S processors were introduced in March 2021. They received quite noticeable changes relative to the 10th generation Core, switching to a new architecture for the desktop segment, but at the same time they retained the old 14 nm process technology, thus becoming a transitional link.

“Ural” is working on a new “razdatka” for heavy all-wheel drive trucks. Its resource will be 600 thousand km

According to Quto.ru, the Ural Automobile Plant is working on new transfer boxes for heavy trucks weighing up to 34 tons. South Ural State University will assist in the creation of units (and there are three models planned).
Promising “razdatki” will be used in all all-wheel drive trucks “Ural”. The younger one is calculated for an input torque of 1200 kgf m, the middle one – for 1800 kgf m, the older one – for 2500 kgf m. The creators expect to receive units with a service life of 600 thousand km. Considering that we are talking mainly about special equipment that works in difficult conditions and is not designed for long mileage like mainline tractors, the resource of the “razdatka” will be equal to the resource of the all-terrain vehicle itself.
It is expected that ready-made solutions will appear in the future of three years.

Mozilla is developing a Firefox browser for iOS that violates Apple’s requirements

Mozilla is working on a Firefox browser for iOS that will be based on the Gecko engine rather than the traditional WebKit platform. This is similar to the Google project, where they develop their Chromium browser based on Blink.

The browser code was found in the Mozilla GitHub repository, but it is not in the App Store, because such a browser violates the rules of the store. Apple forbids browsers from using any engines other than WebKit.
In a comment to the media, a Mozilla spokesperson said the company is following Apple’s policy and is only doing research to understand the technical issues for Gecko browsers on iOS if that policy changes.
“We hope that the day will come when people can freely decide to use the browser of their choice, including the ability to choose the engine that underlies it,” the company said.
Note that the Google developers also stated that their application is only an “experimental prototype that is being created in order to understand some aspects of performance on iOS.”
Journalists, on the other hand, believe that Apple may begin preparations for changing the rules of the store, which is why the companies began working on new versions of browsers. Details about this can be told at the WWDC conference in early summer.
