Lidar turns iPhone 12 Pro into a high-precision measuring instrument
It’s one thing when a manufacturer talks about the merits of a smartphone, and it’s another thing when uninterested people praise the device. For example, the developers of the Canvas application for 3D modeling praised the iPhone 12 Pro. More precisely, not so much the smartphone itself as its camera equipped with a laser rangefinder.
The specificity of Canvas is such that the accuracy of the data for volumetric scanning of premises is of fundamental importance, and here the iPhone 12 Pro has proved to be the best. According to Canvas employees, confirmed by manual measurements using a tape measure and a laser rangefinder, the iPhone 12 Pro has a 1-2% error when scanning. While the error when using conventional cameras without a laser rangefinder is about 5%. And in some cases even more.
