LG to Continue Smartphone Production and Upgrade to Android 13 for LG G8, LG V50, LG V60, LG Velvet and LG Wing

LG officially confirmed this week that it will gradually close its smartphone business, but later it became known that some of the company’s smartphones will receive planned updates not only to Android 11, but also to Android 12.
LG is now officially confirming that its premium smartphones launched in 2019 and later will receive three numbered updates to the Android operating system. LG names the devices in the G and V series, as well as the new Velvet and Wing series.
This means the LG G8, LG V50, LG V60, LG Velvet and LG Wing smartphones will be updated to Android 13 as they all launched with Android 10. Mid-range smartphones including the LG Stylo 6 and some LG K models will receive two OS updates, that is, will be updated to Android 12.
LG will continue to manufacture handsets in the second quarter to meet contractual obligations to carriers and partners. This means that customers can still purchase LG mobile phones that are currently in stock, and for certain devices, service support and security software updates will be provided for a certain period of time.
