Last quarter, 91.8 million SSDs were shipped, and in total for 2021 – 373.2 million
Referring to a report prepared by analyst firm Trendfocus, the source claims that 91.8 million SSDs were shipped in the fourth quarter of 2021. This is 11% more in annual terms. In total, 373.2 million SSDs were shipped in 2021.
The total amount of SSDs hitting the market in 2021 reached 597.8 EB. Compared to 2020, the total volume increased by 29%. Analysts note that the impressive growth was achieved despite the constant shortage of components that has plagued and continues to plague the industry.
The undisputed market leader is Samsung. The South Korean electronics giant is ahead of the competition by a wide margin. Counting by the number of drives, Samsung’s share in the fourth quarter is 25.8%, and if counted by the volume of drives, then even 37.0%. By comparison, second-placed WDC’s performance is 15.2% and 14.2%, respectively. A more detailed idea of the distribution of the market is given by the diagram:

This is what the first motherboard for Ryzen 7000 processors looks like. ASRock X670E Taichi lit up on the Web

In a few days, AMD will introduce the X670E, X670 and B650 chipsets for AM5 platform motherboards designed to work with Ryzen 7000 processors. But today we can get our first look at such a board.
ASRock itself showed the X670E Taichi on video, however, the video has already been deleted. As the name implies, the board is based on the top X670E chipset, but technically it will not differ from the X670. Recall that both chipsets will be dual-chip, that is, they will consist of two identical chipsets on one substrate.
So far, we can say something about the board itself only by looking at the image. You can see two PCIe slots, four DDR slots, a processor socket, and what appears to be a passively cooled chipset. This gives hope that it will not heat up too much.

Assemble a PC “without cables”. Gigabyte introduced Stealth components, including a graphics card with an atypical power connector layout

Gigabyte has announced a partnership with Maingear, creating new products as part of this collaboration.
In general, the result of the cooperation was the PC Aorus Project Stealth. Apparently, Gigabyte was responsible for the Z690 Aorus Elite Stealth motherboard, the GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming OC Stealth graphics card, and the Aorus C300G Stealth chassis in this case.
The main idea of the project is to create a PC that is easy to build, which at the same time will look unique in its own way due to certain basic features of the components. It’s about cable management.
The system is designed in such a way that all the connectors on the system board are located on the back of it. This allows you to hide the cables and make the interior of the computer as minimalistic as possible.
One of the unique features went to the video card. To implement the main idea, Gigabyte engineers moved the adapter’s power connectors to the bottom of the adapter, so that the video card’s power cables will also not be visible.
From the press release it is not very clear, but, apparently, Meingear will sell ready-made PCs based on these components, offering to choose only the amount of RAM and drives. Gigabyte, apparently, will sell components, including separately.

The GeForce RTX 3050 can now also be almost fully used for Ethereum mining. Nvidia LHR v3 security cracked 90%

A couple of weeks ago, the LHR protection in Nvidia graphics cards was cracked, which allowed everyone to use accelerators for Ethereum mining at full capacity again. But in fact, then the protection of LHR v2 was cracked, but not LHR v3.
The LHR v3 version is present in Nvidia’s latest releases: RTX 3050 and RTX 3080 12GB. And it is still not completely hacked, but now the NiceHash miner is able to use 90% of the performance of these cards when mining cryptocurrency. It’s not a complete hack yet, but it’s getting very close.
Fortunately, at the moment the cryptocurrency market is in a state of decline, so it hardly makes any sense to buy the same RTX 3050 for mining, which means that gamers need not worry for now.
By the way, a large article has been published on our website with an analysis of methods for cracking Nvidia protection.
