Knowles, which specializes in microphones, loudspeakers and sound processing solutions, recently announced the release of two new SiSonic microphones. The SPH1878 and SPH9855 microphones are designed for automotive electronics. In particular, for public address systems, voice control and noise cancellation. They use MEMS technology. The microphones meet the AEC-Q100 / 103 qualification requirements.

The SPH1878 (shown on the left in the illustration) has both single-ended and balanced analog interfaces, while the SPH9855 has a digital PDM interface. Both microphones are designed for beamforming applications and are compatible with the European eCall communication system. Key features include low phase distortion, which is important for noise cancellation systems, and wide dynamic range, which improves the quality of voice communications. The point of acoustic overload in terms of sound pressure in the case of the SPH9855 is 132,138 dB, in the case of the SPH1878 – 134 dB. The signal-to-noise ratio in both cases is 66 dB.

Samples SPH1878 and SPH9855 are already available. The microphones are expected to go into serial production later this year.
