Kioxia BG5 SSDs are PCIe 4.0

Published

on

Kioxia introduced the BG5 series solid state drives. These PCIe 4.0 x 4 SSDs, according to Kioxia, are “designed to provide the best balance of performance, cost, and power consumption.” They use the fifth generation 3D BiCS FLASH from Kioxia.

The BG5 Series is attractive for use in a wide range of corporate and private notebooks and desktops with VML (virtual multi-LUN) support, providing a combination of high performance and affordable price. The drives also support Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology. They do not use native DRAM caching. For the SSD, the M.2 2230 form factor is chosen with one-sided placement of components, which allows for improved thermal performance. Versions are also available in the single-sided M.2 2280 form factor. The BG5 series includes 256, 512 and 1024 GB models.

According to Kioxia, the sequential read speed reaches 3500 MB / s, the sequential write speed is 2900 MB / s. Performance on operations with random access reaches 500,000 IOPS in read mode and 450,000 IOPS in write mode. The advantages of the drives include support for the latest TCG Pyrite and Opal standards and end-to-end data protection functions to ensure the security of information in private and corporate systems.

Samples of the BG5 series drives are already shipping to key Kioxia partners and customers.

Fraudsters have learned to force customers to change SIM card

VTB has uncovered a new method of telephone fraud, as a result of which a user can unwittingly provide access to his online bank to outsiders. Fraudsters call under the guise of employees of the support service of a mobile operator and inform the subscriber about the hacking of his personal account or phone. In order to prevent the user’s personal data from being exposed to the public as a result of the “hacking”, he is asked to dial a special USSD command on the phone, consisting of a combination of numbers, symbols and a phone number. As a result, the subscriber himself changes the settings so that calls and SMS are forwarded from his device to the number of scammers.

The scammers may then call again to report that the problem has been fixed, but in fact they receive codes from messages and can steal money from the user’s account by gaining access to their online banking. VTB experts recommend installing caller IDs on your smartphones that will allow you to distinguish a real call from a fraudulent one, or not to answer calls from unknown numbers. It is also important to be vigilant and, at the slightest doubt, end a conversation that seems suspicious. According to VTB, in May, the number of customer requests for calls from intruders increased by 70% compared to April this year, exceeding 640,000.

Buy the unreleased top Core i9 13900K for 426 One such

Despite the fact that the 13th generation Intel Core processors will be released at best in the fall, at least one offer for the sale of the top-end Core i9-13900K has already appeared on the Web.

Buy the unreleased top Core i9-13900K for $426. One such processor has already been sold

The seller asked for only $426 for the CPU, which is quite good for such a processor. Of course, you need to understand that this is an early sample, but the seller claimed that everything works and even overclocking is supported.

Unfortunately, the owner covered up all the codes, so it is impossible to determine at least some details about the CPU. The seller himself indicated that the processor has 8 large cores and 16 small ones, which corresponds to the configuration of the top Raptor Lake.

The processor was sold very quickly. Perhaps in the near future its new owner will publish some CPU tests.

When the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti has 21 times more

The GeForce GTX 1630 graphics card may be released today, but for now, third-party manufacturers are already sharing the parameters of this adapter.

Colorful, for example, is still hiding some of the characteristics, but MSI has revealed everything. So now we are 100% sure that the new product is based on the TU117 GPU with 512 CUDA cores, that is, in any case, it is much weaker than the GTX 1650 on the same GPU, but with a large number of active CUDA cores. At the same time, it can be noted that the new CUDA cores are 21 times smaller than the RTX 3090 Ti, although such a comparison takes place simply for the sake of beautiful numbers.

The card also received 4 GB of GDDR6 memory with a frequency of 12 GHz and a 64-bit memory bus. As a result, the throughput is only 96 GB / s. For comparison, the same Radeon RX 6400 with the same bus has a figure of 128 GB / s, while the RX 6500 XT has 144 GB / s.

The GPU operates at frequencies of 1740-1785 MHz. Power consumption is declared equal to 75 W, that is, some models will do without a power connector, but the Colorful card has one.

The cards have the same set of ports: HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI.
