Microsoft has made another mess with updates for computers running Windows 10.

As reported by users facing the problem, Microsoft has started distributing old and inappropriate drivers to some computers. Moreover, these users are not participants in Windows Insider testing.

It is best not to install these updates on Windows 10. Microsoft offers older drivers by mistake

“Superfluous” Intel – System updates began rolling out last week along with other optional driver updates for Windows 10 version 2004 (May 2020 Update). Moreover, after installing the drivers, the exact same update is again offered for download and installation.

In some cases, Windows Update may show older drivers, including instances with a release date of 1968. Microsoft appears to have put these “old” dates on purpose to avoid installation in cases where the manufacturer has drivers for the system.

As noted by the WindowsLatest topic resource, if Intel – System or other unsuitable drivers appear in the section with optional Windows Update (Windows Update), then you should not install them.

If you install them, the computer will “roll back” to the old version, you will need to find and install the latest driver on the manufacturer’s website.
