It flew in from the direction of the Sun and remained invisible until the moment of approach. An unexpected asteroid flew close to Earth

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has long tracked asteroids. Most of them are small and not dangerous, but fears remain that there is a large asteroid somewhere. Recently, a celestial body about the size of a refrigerator came very close to Earth.

Scientists have paid close attention to the asteroid not because of its size. It flew in from the direction of the Sun, while scientists did not even know about its existence until the last moment. Astronomer Tony Dunn confirmed that the approach from the Sun made it invisible until the moment of approach.

The asteroid was named 2021 UA1, it took the third place in the distance of approach to the Earth for the entire time of observation. He flew at a distance of 3000 km from our tablet. NASA confirms that the asteroid approached the planet while flying over Antarctica. A celestial body with a diameter of about 2 m passed significantly above the orbit of the ISS, but was below the orbit of the communication satellites. If it entered the planet’s atmosphere, it would burn up.

Prior to this, asteroid 2020 QG flew at a distance of 2950 km from our planet, and 2020 VT4 was recorded at a distance of several hundred miles. But they were all too small to harm Earth.

Elon Musk told how humanoid robots Tesla Bot will help us

Published

Earlier this year, Elon Musk announced plans to create a humanoid robot Tesla Bot, equipped with artificial intelligence, designed to perform various tasks. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Musk was asked for news on the Tesla Bot project.

I think that with the help of autopilot and complete self-control, we are creating the most advanced AI for navigation in the real world. You can also think of Tesla as the world’s largest semi-intelligent robot company. The car looks like a robot on 4 wheels. I think we can take the same technology and release a humanoid robot. Basically, in order to have a humanoid part, we need to develop some custom actuators and gauges, and essentially use Tesla Full Self-Driving or autopilot in a humanoid robot.

Elon Musk

The Tesla CEO said he considers Tesla Bot to be a very important project, but he has no clear timetable for its implementation. He added that Tesla Bot could help address labor shortages.

There are not enough people. I don’t know how else to focus on this. There are not enough people. I believe that one of the biggest threats to civilization is a low and rapidly falling birth rate.

Elon Musk

At the Tesla AI Day event in August, Musk said he expects to get a working prototype of the Tesla Bot next year.

The most productive low-cost Android smartphones around the world. There are two well-deserved leaders and one new contender for the throne in the AnTuTu ranking

The AnTuTu benchmark team has published a ranking of mid-range Android smartphones for November 2021 for the international market. It differs markedly from the similar AnTuTu ranking in China.

According to AnTuTu experts, phones based on the Snapdragon 778G SoC continue to dominate the ranking of mid-range smartphones.

The most productive low-cost Android smartphones around the world. There are two well-deserved leaders and one new contender for the throne in the AnTuTu ranking

For the fourth month in a row, Realme GT Master continues to reign in first place, gaining 537,231 points in November. As noted by AnTuTu, Naoto Fukasawa’s suitcase-style design has made this smartphone very recognizable and one of the hottest on the mobile phone market this year.

The second place is also taken by the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite for the fourth month in a row with 524,464 points. But the Honor 50 burst into third place with 516 915 points, which was not previously represented in the international ranking. It’s funny that a new generation series, Honor 60, has already been presented in China.

Then in the ranking are Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G NE (505 274), Huawei Nova 9 (499 078), Galaxy A52s 5G (498 705), Galaxy M52 5G (490 762), Huawei Nova 7 (457 964), Oppo Reno6 5G (429 879), Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite 5G (388 719).

Statistics collected from November 1 to November 30, 2021. The AnTuTu rankings use average, not the highest scores. For each smartphone, the results of at least 1000 tests were taken into account – models with fewer tests are not included in the rating.

“Hopefully we see better performance out of the box,” PCMag compares Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 to Apple A14 Bionic and Apple A15 Bionic

Published

PCMag had the opportunity to test the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and compare it with the Apple A14 Bionic and Apple A15 Bionic.

Based on the test results, PCMag concluded that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is indeed better than its predecessor, but still loses to Apple’s latest SoC. The tests themselves were carried out on a prototype that the chipmaker showed off at the Snapdragon Summit booth. The prototype received a FullHD + display with a frequency of 144 Hz, 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 flash memory.

In terms of processor performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor is on par with the Apple A14 Bionic found in the iPhone 12 and is inferior to the Apple A15 Bionic. Compared to its predecessor, the new platform shows an increase of about 15%, but not 20%, as stated by Qualcomm.

The prototype worked well in the Basemark web browser, but it is far from the iPhone 13 in terms of performance. Where Qualcomm’s flagship SoCs have always done well is the graphics power. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is no exception: according to the results of the GFXBench 5 test, the new Adreno video accelerator confidently outperforms all competitors, including the Apple A15 Bionic.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 also looks decent in PCMark Work 3.0. At the same time, testers note that the prototype with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 often worked incorrectly, some applications crashed. Therefore, it is too early to draw final conclusions. Already, there are concerns that the new chipset generates a lot of heat and overheats.

The prototype was buggy and unoptimized (Android’s multitasking button often didn’t work and Basemark Web crashed several times). Hopefully we will see better performance from off-the-shelf products like the Samsung Galaxy S22 and OnePlus 10.
